Quote from: beej on February 13, 2025, 07:09 AMor if they come from the fact that the CFPB can write it's own laws.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the CFPB can write it's own laws? It implements and enforces them?

ok. You're wrong.  :P  ;D

from wiki
According to former director Richard Cordray, the bureau's priorities are mortgages, credit cards and student loans.[3][7] The CFPB qualifies as a large independent agency that was designed to consolidate its employees and responsibilities from a number of other federal regulatory bodies, including the Federal Reserve, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the National Credit Union Administration and even the Department of Housing and Urban Development.[8] The bureau is an independent unit located inside and funded by the United States Federal Reserve, with interim affiliation with the U.S. Treasury Department.[citation needed]

The CFPB writes and enforces rules for financial institutions, examines both bank and non-bank financial institutions, monitors and reports on markets, as well as collects and tracks consumer complaints.

You don't need new rose colored glasses. The ones you have work perfectly

I'll post it again to stress test those glasses

Fox News

QuoteThe Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Lee Zeldin said Wednesday that his team has located $20 billion in tax dollars that the Biden administration purposely wasted.

"An extremely disturbing video circulated two months ago, featuring a Biden EPA political appointee talking about how they were 'tossing gold bars off the Titanic,' rushing to get billions of your tax dollars out the door before Inauguration Day," Zeldin said in a video posted to X, citing another video from December. "The 'gold bars' were tax dollars and 'tossing them off the Titanic' meant the Biden administration knew they were wasting it."

Zeldin said the EPA has plans to recover the "gold bars" that were found "parked at an outside financial institution," which he does not mention by name.

He said that "this scheme was the first of its kind in EPA history, and it was purposefully designed to obligate all the money in a rush job with reduced oversight" before Inauguration Day.

This is something I believe that wiki has wrong.

"PURPOSE of the CFPB:
CFPB ensures that the federal consumer financial laws are enforced consistently so that consumers may access markets for financial products, and so that these markets are fair, transparent, and competitive"

This explains it, but I may be misunderstanding it.  Let me know how this reads to you.

No swerve. Conversations wander and I was talking to Beej.

I saw your link, thanks for posting where you got your "news" from.

Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. People say a lot of things without proof so I'll wait until some proof is offered.

Zelden got his job for being a Trump loyalist, not because he's qualified for the job, so he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me like he does from you.

Does the Biden EPA clown bragging about throwing gold bars off the Titanic get the benefit of the doubt too??

I don't know what you're talking about. Got a link?

On 2nd thought, skip the link.

I expect the Biden clown wasn't literally throwing gold bars off the Titanic while the Trump clown is literally accusing somebody of hiding 20 billion dollars so it's doesn't matter.

I suggest we just wait for that to flesh out.

from the next paragraph after your quote:
The Bureau has the authority to administer, enforce, and otherwise implement federal consumer financial laws, which includes the power to make rules, issue orders, and issue guidance ( 12 U.S.C. ยง 5511 )
