OK this is a weird one...

I opened a legacy X9 file in MC2021 today to look at revising an old production part.
The geometry appeared briefly on screen, then vanished.
All levels are checked as visible in the level manager, and all toolpaths are still there in the toolpath manager, but no geometry is visible on screen.

Anyone ever see this or have any ideas?

btw...I have X9 installed on this PC, so I opened the same file with that and the file itself is fine.
All geometry and toolpaths are as they should be.
So I'm wondering why MC2021 is having issues with it.

I've not see that...I have recently had to open up X9 files

Are you on Win10 or Win7 ...I am still on Win7

Recently upgraded to Windows 10 only because we are a DoD contractor and have no choice.

Same here...no issues like this when I had Win7.  I opened X9 files occasionally in many newer versions and never had a problem.

I can make the necessary revisions to this part in X9, but I shouldn't have to do that.

do you have an entity count in the levels in the Level Manager

Out of curiosity, what happens if you pull the file up through the migration utility?
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Yes, the entity numbers are correct on every level.
I didn't try opening it with the migration utility.
I will look at that on Monday when I am back in the office.

Maybe all the entities are blanked, or hidden?

Thanks.
I just installed Update 3 and restarted the PC.
I also have the latest Windows 10 update, but the X9 file is still behaving the same way.

If the file was corrupted by the update 2 issue, the data will need to be unlocked at cnc software using a utility only they have

OK thanks.
I do have a backup copy of the file in question, so maybe I can make another copy then try to open that one.

More weirdness...
I made another backup copy of the X9 file and opened it.

Now I can turn the levels on one at a time, and all of the geometry is visible.
There is one level that must be corrupt, because when I turn that one on everything disappears like before.
This is one of the weirdest things I have ever seen!  :w00t:

It's possible converting to mc2018 prior to converting to 2021 would be better, that's what we do here.

Have you tried the file repair utility?

That was my next thought.
Something else came up in the meantime, but i will definitely try that later.
