You can't make this shit up!

"Thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest cleared to build highway for UN climate summit"

This is of course after 118 private jets fly there.

Click bait to get righties worked up. They cleared about 10 miles for a highway. In the meantime 200 million acres of rainforest have been turned into pastures over the last few decades.

Is it though?
The climate nuts cleared 10 miles of the Amazon Rainforest. Their most coveted prize, and took 118 private jets to get there.

Talk about the epitome of hypocrisy!

Do you not get the scale here. 10 miles of road is a 5 acres or so. The ratio of acres cleared for this road to acres cleared for farming is 5:200,000,000. Rather getting clickbait worked up about their "hypocrisy" you should ask yourself is 200,000,000 acres of lost rainforest a problem.

5 acres? wut?

"A new four-lane highway cutting through tens of thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest is being built for the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belém.

It aims to ease traffic to the city, which will host more than 50,000 people - including world leaders - at the conference in November.

The state government touts the highway's "sustainable" credentials, but some locals and conservationists are outraged at the environmental impact.

The Amazon plays a vital role in absorbing carbon for the world and providing biodiversity, and many say this deforestation contradicts the very purpose of a climate summit.

Along the partially built road, lush rainforest towers on either side - a reminder of what was once there. Logs are piled high in the cleared land which stretches more than 13km (8 miles) through the rainforest into Belém.

Diggers and machines carve through the forest floor, paving over wetland to surface the road which will cut through a protected area."

Oh I see what you're saying, they only removed 5 acres in total for the highway.

Where did you get that number from?

Just a guesstimate based on how many square miles in an acre. It could be 10 acres, IDK. It is a rather tiny amount compared to how much has been cleared for agriculture.

I don't know if the 200 million acres of lost rainforest is as big of problem as they say, but I do know the laws of conservation of matter and conservation of energy rule our world. Nothing happens in a vacuum when it comes to our world and environment. When you make enough of an unnatural change to an ecosystem there will be a response. I'm not a doomsday extremist environmentalist, but I think we should have some caution when we start to see manmade changes on that kind of scale. I also see how corrupt the left and the environmental movement is. I see how they use climate change fear to gain power and money. To be honest this is just another extreme polarized issue where I don't support either side and I wish we could just have rational conversations and solutions.

How much carbon dioxide do they absorb?

Fake news. That figure is from a study measured during peak summer time. The study even acknowledges that year round the rainforest produces a lot more oxygen and absorbs a lot more carbon than Iowa farm fields.
