I don't know about the polls, but anytime you get these two fuckers pissed at you at the same time, you are doing something right...

I wish we could have brought the history from the old forum over to this one.   I remember when everyone was happy with Bolton.

Ok, I was already generally approving of the job Trump was doing. No need to him look even better.

To play on a Bob Dylan tune, "The polls they are a-changin."

Personally I have nothing but respect for the woman. She showed up for town hall meetings despite Republican House Members Told to Stop Holding In-Person Town Halls so good for her. Having said that, I expect in the future she won't be holding more town hall meetings.

G.O.P. Lawmaker Faces Angry Crowds at Town Halls Outside Indianapolis

Excerpt:
QuoteHouse Republicans have been told by their party's leadership to avoid town halls after Democrats and others began to seize on the events to vent frustration with the Trump administration.

Representative Victoria Spartz, a third-term Republican from suburban Indianapolis, decided not to heed the warning this weekend — and was met with fury over cuts to the federal government's services and work force.

On Friday and Saturday, Ms. Spartz hosted gatherings with constituents. And each day, she found herself in hostile territory.

She was booed, jeered and scolded over the Signal scandal at the Defense Department (she acknowledged that the Trump administration needed to do a "better job"), and the Homeland Security Department's efforts to deport immigrants without due process (she declared that unauthorized immigrants were entitled to "no due process"). And she was accused of standing idly by as Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency steered cuts to government services (she said the Trump administration was trying to stop fraud).

She faced chants of "Do your job!" At times, the events turned into shouting matches. Some of the exchanges have circulated widely on social media.

Quote"She's not fulfilling her congressional duties and upholding the separation of powers," said Josh Lowry, the chair of the Hamilton County Democrats, who led protests outside the town hall on Friday. "She's selling out Hoosiers."

Mr. Lowry said Republicans like Ms. Spartz had won elections in November by focusing on the cost of living, but have now instead joined in Mr. Trump's campaign of "retribution."

"They're all worried about Trump endorsing an opponent" in a Republican primary election, Mr. Lowry said.

Of course Repugs want to blame it on far left saboteurs but nah.

Quote"The radical left is organizing to silence the truth at town halls, but we cannot let it happen," she said in a statement. "It's not pleasant, but I can handle their aggressive behavior."

Christine Kassebnia, 62, a self-described swing voter who waited for more than two hours to get into the town hall on Friday, bristled at the suggestion that Ms. Spartz's critics at the events were on the far left.

"These were not far-anything," she said. "They were just people. And they're upset."

I do know that in Spokane, Wa  Republican Michael Baumgartner held a town hall and the majority group of people there were pretty open about organizing on social media to purchase as many of the tickets to the town hall that they could so they could protest. It was a complete shit show and not Baumgartner's typical voter base. The group had purchased something like 500 of the 800 tickets. I don't know how common this has been and I don't think they were all your typical Seattle liberals. Not on that side of the mountain.

Now nobody paid these people to do this. The accusation that every protest is funded by Soros lately and all. I've seen the same accusation about the Tesla protests and I've seen large groups of people organizing on Reddit and they're all too happy to spend an afternoon protesting Tesla.

I was wrong about the ticket numbers.  There were 500 general admission tickets available. It's unclear how many the group bought.

Personally I don't like the idea of people out of the representatives district going to town hall meetings. Those should be reserved for the people they do represent.

Social media is an unavoidable fact of life. Some of the most ignorant people I know get pretty much all their "news" from social media. But I'm not sure in this case it's a bad thing. As long as people are aware and go to the town hall meetings it's a positive thing.

As far as not being a representative sample of the guys voters goes that's fine as long as it's a group of people he represents even if they didn't vote for him. That's the way a representative republic is supposed to work.

The most poignant points from the thread I posted were the expectation that congress was supposed to provide a check and balance and the point about Repugs running on lowering prices then pivoting and supporting a guy who seems intent on doing exactly the opposite.

Pretty fkn sad to see what's happened to the party of Lincoln.

Here in Utah a couple of Representatives have held Town Hall Meetings.

My opinion is the left going there are  not there to hear responses to their questions and concerns. They are there to shout people down. Pathetic.

He does represent that district. All I meant is that the majority of attendees weren't Republican. I'm sure that there were *some* Republicans in that group.
