I am inclined to believe that most people who are gay are born that way. Though I do think that there are plenty among the younger generation who do a lot of back and forth because instead of it being a negative, it's now cool.

We have good friends, who have kids the same age as ours, that told us a few years ago that their son is gay. They both come from very religious families and were shook. We were like, no duh. We could tell since kindergarten. How could they not?

They have gotten over the shock and always include the son and his partners along with their other boys and their wives. The extended family is less receptive. He was always the clear favorite grandson with his grandmother. I joked with the wife when he was little, it's cause he's the closest she ever got to a granddaughter. Now that he's out, she won't have anything to do with him, except send him letters(who the fuck still writes letters?)telling him he's going to hell. What a bitch.

Wife's cousin, a southern belle from Mississippi, married a dude who the first time I met him I told the wife, that's the single gayest guy I've ever met. Like Nathan Lane in Birdhouse gay. She's like, nah, he just a little effeminate. I'm like, sure. If effeminate means, likes to suck dick.

But he was from a good deep south, old money, Episcopalian family so he married up. Even took one for the team and had a kid. He's a great guy, good dad. Especially to a daughter. Shortly after his parents passed, my wife announced with great shock that they were getting divorced. I was like, lemme guess, he's gay? :coffee:

In both of those cases, as I imagine it is for most gay people, if it was a simple choice, don't you think they'd have chosen differently? Choosing to be straight would have made their lives, especially with their families, much easier.

IMHO, the ones with a choice are those who choose to reject family members for who they are.

People thinking that it's a choice is the reason we have parents sending their kids off to conversion therapy because they can't accept that their kid might be gay.

I feel bad that people have to go through that. And I'm not talking about the parents.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

The behavior that you describe, with which I am also afflicted, even if we are genetically predisposed to it, has the potential to place others in danger.

Those whom we put in danger did not consent to be put in danger.

That's why we don't get a pass.

If two gay consenting adults chose to marry, cohabitate, etc, who are they putting in danger?

Del.

I think most people don't care what gay people do. I think most Priest are gay.

Quote from: Smit on April 03, 2025, 06:37 AMYou guys who think it's a choice should google some dick pictures. See if you can decide you could choose to want some of those dicks.

If you can't then the point is proven. If you find yourself wanting some of those dicks then you're already gay, or at least bi, or some combination thereof. Be it genetics or who knows what the fuck it is.

Pretty easy really. :)

And you just reduced all of the people Bucky is defending to "Just wanting Dick".

Not that they are attracted to a person for any other reason.

If Bucky were truly invested in his cause , He would have shouted You out as a Bigot. ::)

That is "Pretty Easy"to see. ::)

If it were only a matter of "consenting adults" and "not putting anyone else's life in danger", then why are there STD's? Some that are in fact deadly.

Surely nobody consented to that. According to the Kommieforniastan Dept of Public Health;
  • Gay and Bi-Sexual Men have 248x higher rates of syphilis than other males
  • Gay and Bi-Sexual Men have 554x higher rates of syphilis than females
  • Gay and Bi-Sexual Men who have HIV have early 248x higher rates of syphilis 11x higher than other Gay and Bi-Sexual males w/out HIV.
Probably don't need to go on with the other statistics like number of partners is higher, level of promiscuity is higher, etc...

On a personal note, I don't care about who somebody loves or who someone choses to engage in sexual activity with. It's their business not mine. But do not make me "accept" the behavior, "support" the behavior, and most certainly do not make me endorse the behavior.

And sarcasm is like food. Not everyone gets it.

It's because They "Just want Dick" according to Smit.

I do have to say I'm Curious" ;D

As to why this is such a "Hot Button" issue for Bucky.

He seems Extraordinarily Sensitive to the subject at Hand. :o

Maybe a little too close to Home??
