"The Social Security Administration's acting commissioner is facing calls to resign after he issued an order that would have required Maine parents to register their newborns for Social Security numbers at a federal office rather than the hospital"

""The American people deserve answers about your activities and communications in the time between President Trump's February 21, 2025, public threat to Governor Mills and your February 27, 2025, order to cancel the enumeration at birth and electronic death registration contracts with the state of Maine, and about your knowledge that cancelling these contracts would lead to increased waste, fraud, and abuse," Connolly said in his letter. "

QuoteAccording to emails obtained by Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Social Security staff informed Dudek that canceling the contracts "would result in improper payments and potential for identity theft."

Dudek told his staff to go for it.

"Please cancel the contracts. While our improper payments will go up, and fraudsters may compromise identities, no money will go from the public trust to a petulant child," Dudek wrote, referring to Mills.

is this all because of transgender participation in female sports?

It's because somebody told Trump no.

To something he told the governor to do.

If you think it's alright for the government to use vindictive shit like this in some situations where you personally think it justified, alright.

Because it's Trump and liberals love the transgender. I wish LeBron would transgender to the WNBA.

I haven't been following this very closely, but even if that's the case, do you think that vindictively cutting off the States SS contracts is the right approach to solving the problem?

Why is Trump signing EO's and interfering in things that should be left up to the States in the first place? What happened to "leave it up to the States"?  Or is that apparently only when it's convenient?

In this case some state schools play against other state schools. That makes it a federal problem.

Look if we just shove all the weirdos back into the closet most of the problems in this country will just go the fuck away.

If we have to be vindictive pricks about it then so be it.

And, between you and me, fuck state rights. You really thought we were serious about that? :secret:

God bless.

So then sign an EO saying that the athletes can't play against other States. Better yet, let the States that they are playing in make their own laws preventing the athletes from playing in them.

That doesn't answer the question though. Do you think their vindictive approach to punishing the State is justified?

It's not how I would have handled it. I like your idea better. But at the same time, Smit and I had several discussions about this during the election cycle and he and others said this is a made up republican talking point that is not happening, and not worth taking a stand over. I think that's because it was a losing position in the polls and democrats didn't want it to be brought up. At the time, I remember smit saying there wasn't enough transgender students for this to even be an issue. I had to look it up, Maine claims to have 2 boys playing on girls teams. why is she defying the federal government over 2 boys that could just play on the boys teams? If it's not a big enough issue for republicans to care about, why is it a big enough issue for democrats to care about?
