LOL coming from you, world's biggest whiner about everything you have no experience with.

I guess my dad didn't give me enough money. Trump's did though.

And at least I tried to create my own business. I was successful for about a year and a half or so.

Gaging from your boos,  I'd say you have never been in the arena.

I was asked to start a business with a friend and co-worker that I'd known since I was 19.  I have a feeling that he was trying to take advantage of my good nature.  lol.  At the time, I was working a ridiculous amount of hours and I think he wanted someone that was willing to stick around and run parts while he focused on the business side of things.

In the end I declined.  He had two machines (lathes) and we knew someone that would rent shop space. All we needed was a functional Mill.  I would have had to invest in the mill.

I just didn't have the balls to take the risk.  I was still young and didn't realize how much life I still had ahead of me. I could have easily taken that risk and if it flopped, had plenty of time to recover.

Some of us have the balls for it and some of us don't.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I give ALL the credit for that endeavor to my wife. She didn't even wince when I asked her if it was OK to do.  She supported me 100%. She helped me with the accounting side of things for the business...

She gave up being an accountant when she chose motherhood and being a wife over a career.

I do not regret that decision one bit. Sure, in the end, the "business" failed, but so what. I learned SO much in those 2+ years doing that.  Would I do it again? Fuck no! A man's got to know his limitations. I'll take that education and put it to good use though. :coffee:

I used to get mad when the boss showed up with a new ride when everyone is taking paycuts. Now I know there is more to it.

I've been really good friends with almost everyone I've worked for.  I've seen both sides of that with some drunken admissions along the way.

I think that running a business can be a struggle.  If you're a 2nd or 3rd gen business owner taking advantage of your employees and then criticizing them because they haven't met the bar...  I don't think it's the same as struggling to start your own business and bitching about your employees spending too much time in the bathroom. :D

The owner of a shop I worked for hasn't made a profit in 40 years he told me. 😂

I have a really good story that is almost exactly that. It was one of the most efficient companies I'd ever worked for and there were people on the payroll that I'd never seen in that shop. Yet they broke even every year and never had enough money to give raises.

He's doing his books right then.

That's the side of the tax code the average worker has no idea about. Profit is eeeeeevil according to .gov

When you make a profit, they want their pound of flesh.

Back in 2000 I worked as Eng Manager for a place with 95 employees. Owner wanted me to be a director - I declined saying lets see how it goes.
1st month we turned over 800k, next month best ever just under 1x mill. But i was getting phone calls "please have a word with your accounts"....
Place obviously had big problems and then the accountant bailed.
I got more involved in the running side too....owners wife was being paid, sons wife too, sister I'd never seen was paid....funniest was granny's wage....Owners' preoperative - he can do what he wants.
But he actually had no idea how to run a bath. Everything was financed or refinanced.
At month 6, it went pop on a Friday with a 1.2 mill debt. Monday we were trading again with 35 employees....I learned so much regarding how to NOT run a business...

Every year a Christmas he would say. " Profits!! There aren't any!" Made me so mad.

And the you have it. Nutboy, the perpetual victim, complaining about .gov taking all his $$ because he wasn't smart enough to make his business work. What ever happened to puling one's self up by the bootstraps?
