Spirit Aerosystems just announced layoffs of 250-350 people, mostly on the 737 program. Supposedly they are just temporary.

I saw where UPS is laying off 20,000.

The Port here is talking about layoffs coming. Apparently our port has had a drastic decline in cargo ships and the amount of cargo on them.

I don't know if the article I read is just political. I do have a friend who works at the port in Seattle. I'm going to message him this weekend and ask what he's hearing.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

We're keeping our head above water for now, but it's going to be a tough year

Layoffs/furloughs here but they have nothing to do with Trump's tariffs or economic policies.

So it's Biden's fault

We have a half dozen open positions right now. However we closed one location in January and moved everything under one roof. We have been getting a ton of resumes and a lot of people coming in for interviews. Usually that tells me the job market for machinists and shop help is not very good.

We're swamped in the mill department, the lathes are a little slow but steady.

That's the way machine shops usually run....

We make a consumer good and consumer sentiment is terrible, despite what Russian President Trump might say

You do have to admit. Starting a global trade war and then blaming dips in the economy on Biden is genius.

Just like the Democrats blaming Trump for the border crisis. 😆

Taking responsibility for one's actions is not very presidential.

I believe ours has to do with the Boeing take over. Management said we still have inventory that we built up when Boeing was in the depths of its issues. My opinion, Boeing doesn't want the cost of that inventory.

We are aftermarket automotive. We have two brands. One brand is down about 3% over last year. That brand represents 65-70% of our total sales dollars. The other brand is up about 12-15%. Overall we are staying flat. However, we are used to 10-20% growth every year so we consider it a down year.

The boss has enough shares in a few of the big publicly traded companies, that in the same markets that we are in, that he gets to listen in on their shareholder calls. They are all saying they are down 15% YOY so for us to stay flat is doing well.
