I have to say, this is one that I agree with.

Why are tax payers, some who were never able to afford college themselves, expected to bail out student loans?

For anyone who's paying attention, this is a +1 for Neuro on the Trump admin.

Thankfully they can't bankruptcy their way out of it.

I AM eleventybitrillion % in favor of them paying the WHOLE amount back.

I think starting next year, if someone takes out student loans and fail to pay them back their future offspring are responsible for paying it off.

You think people would evaluate their life choices then?

I'm not sure that I'm on board with sinking the future of our youth for making bad choices, but I can only hope that if they are held responsible for those choices they'll chose majors that will pay off.  Bail them out and.. well now I'm just sounding like a hypocrite after defending the less fortunate.  lol.

There has to be REAL consequences for making poor life choices.

I think "guidance" counselors neednsome culpabilityntoo. Recommending 4 Year University/College for people that knkw damn well aren't going to make it. If people are hell bent on going that's one thing but guiding a young person down a path they are likely to not succeed is reckless at best.

No

That would be like putting the child of a bank robber in jail.

The real problem here is gov't involvement with "higher" education.
As soon as other people's money commie cash got involved, the price skyrockets. Healthcare is the same commie game.
Expecting an 18 year old to make life altering decisions with $300k implications is criminal.
Lock college and hospital administrators up. Crooks, the lot of them.

To be clear, is that theory, or practice?

True.. the colleges should be held liable for some percentage of the debt.
Instead, the government provides unlimited cash for tuition and well as massive grants for research.
The result is a death spiral of debt

An example is Alabama
When the Redstone Arsenal was scaled back the loss of Federal $$ sent the economy into a tailspin.
It was replaced by making the University of Alabama a massive research university.
So much so that UA is the biggest employer in the state.
I'm sure there is some worthwhile research going on, but I suspect a very large percentage of it
is bloat, make work projects and research on absolutely worthless woke approved BS.

Can you give a deeper explanation in to this?

I don't necessarily disagree. I'm wondering if it's for the same reason.

Gov't money and regulation perverting everything it touches.
Name two institutions where you don't or can't ask the price before you receive the service:
Answer: US socialist healthcare and "higher" education.
You can argue this is not technically true in higher education, but it's effectively true for your average 17 year old.
Healthcare has zero visibility on pricing. How we put up with surprise medical billing is beyond me. Surprise!! You owe $87,000 for that procedure.
When the cash price is a fraction of the insured price, you know we have a corruption problem

Is that the fault of the system, the people who take advantage of the system, the people who created the system, or the people who refuse to fix the system?

We spend a ridiculous amount of money on healthcare in this Country and it gets worse year after year.

US healthcare is 1/5th of the economy, right?
How are the outcomes for that outlay?
