Dark energy and dark matter are interesting because no one knows what it actually is.

I don't think anyone ever called cosmology settled science but I could be wrong.

I will argue that "the standard general narrative", is that "everything is settled" - AKA, nothing, can be questioned.
Yet the more one digs....
And +1 on your interesting quote - because it all is.
It's actually, absolutely amazing

Science that can't be questioned isn't "science", it's propaganda.

I love these conversations =)
A friend I know used to be with NASA and he was into aerodynamics and propulsion. He was a physics guru to the extreme and would tell me everything is explainable with science.....

I would then throw out random things about quantum physics and other new items that would pop up contradicting current science methods but had mathematical proof.

Then I'd ask him why only a few hundred years ago the smartest people on the earth said it was flat and we'd sail off the edge  :o

Current science to me is only relevant to us as we currently understand things with our limited ways of seeing it and is biased by our own perception as we know it.
At least that's my opinion on science as well as a few other things =-P

I'm still in the camp where everything is, and should be, theory. Does it have a robust body of replicable proof and evidence? Great, then it's a well founded theory we can use. Did someone just blow up 300 years of "common sense" or "facts"? Wonderful, now we can move forward knowing more than we did before and make some new discoveries! You know, the scientific method that brought us to where we are today where 10 year olds literally carry the Hitchhiker's Guide in their pocket.

Call me old fashioned, I guess, but I'm not at all happy with 'settled science' and lining NGO, University, and biotech pockets. Or with the promotion of lucrative, partisan narratives that serve to divide, control and weaken our collective position.

Should Amazon have listed all of the #FJB inflation & shrinkflation numbers?

I think they should have. Because then Jean Pierre couldn't have stood up in front of The Press Corps and lied to the American people everyday with impunity.

I did enjoy watching Jom Acosta ask her questions though. That was ALWAYS  great television.

Are we still talking about dark energy and dark matter?

And what exactly has been declared to be settled science?

I would have been fine with that. I wonder if it would have had the unintended consequence of steering people in the US away from US made products to avoid US inflation? Showing the added tariff charge might actually steer US citizens toward US made products?

I could just be making things up

Smoking cigarettes is safe, the earth is flat, all vaccines are 100% safe and effective, man is 100% responsible for Glow Ball Warming. Oh, and NASA faked the moon landing.
