I saw a comment the other day that technically is plausible if you think about it.
It said something like maybe he really did kill himself, but only because they threatened to do harm to his family or someone else he holds close to his heart. This way it is suicide and everyone who parrots it, wouldn't be lying.
That's not out of the realm of possibility but unlikely.
