There is a series called "Taking Fire" that was made from helmet cams and personal videos that the soldier's took. It follows a platoon of the 101st airborne made up of rookie soldiers and seasoned nco's. There are 5 episodes. It also is very intense. The series follows them from initial deployment until they left the Korangal valley.

I highly recommend it. In one episode, two soldiers are killed when their column hits an IED and their sergeant is seriously injured. The first sergeant argues with his command because they want him to evacuate the wounded man in their humvees and he insists on a helicopter. The first sergeant says a ride in the back of the vehicle would kill the wounded man. He wins.

In another episode, the medic is shot. The entry was in his neck and the exit was out his back. The backup medic was scared shitless but took good care of him. The wounded medic talks him through what he needs to do. They evacuated him under enemy fire through challenging terrain.

"Taking Fire' is available on streaming services. I believe it's $1.99 per episode on Amazon Prime.

Another good one is called "Bomb Patrol Afghanistan". It was similar but I can't find it on any streaming services.

My dad served in Korea. He was in a convoy that was over run when the Chinese attacked. He once told me that the sound of a bullet striking flesh sounds like slapping a piece of meat with the palm of your hand. In one episode a soldier gets shot in the shoulder and that's exactly what it sounded like.

I much prefer these to Hollywood, no matter how realistic they make it.

Quote from: ghuns on May 23, 2025, 07:39 AMI enjoyed the first season. 2 was OK. Haven gotten to 3 yet.

I'm 3 episodes into season two. I like the Native American take in the show. Two of the guys were major characters in Longmire.

Watching Happy Face.

Ooooof. It's dark. Interesting,  but DARK.

Personally, I'll watch anything with Dennis Quaid. So far it's not disappointing.  6 episodes in.

I watched a documentary on Netflix on the Air Force Thunderbirds. It is absolutely amazing how they fly those F-16's so close to one another. All by sight.

You are a fan of Dennis Quaid?

I am just the opposite. If I see something that Dennis Quaid is in, I automatically assume it's bad because he is, to me anyway, such a terrible actor.

His acting yes. I'm probably in the minority on that tho...

I've been watching The Agency on Paramount.
It's pretty good, but you have to pay attention.
It's not a show you can half watch while checking your email.
You won't have a clue what's going on if you do

Just finished season 2 of "The Old Man." It was rated pretty highly so I figured I'd give it a watch.

It started out good, then kind of lost speed the rest of the way. Then, after finishing season 2, I found out it was not renewed so there won't be a conclusion.

I hate it when that happens!  :realmad:

I'm watching Black Doves on Netflix. After episode 3 I'm hooked.
