$50 micro bucks says you'll not answer and just ask another diversionary question.

I've already answered that question. Anything that makes it easier for senior citizens, I'm for. Have prescription drug prices actually come down?
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

It would be if it works. It's more likely to get tied up in the courts.

Trump has also already threatened to impose tariffs on imported prescription drugs if they don't lower their prices. If that's what it comes to, then some prescription drug prices will actually go up?

I'm still waiting to see how this one plays out.

OK, as most know, I undergo an every 4 week 2 day infusion to try to keep my autoimmune disease at bay...

Do you know how much the pharmacy that fills that order charges the insurance company each month?

Now, it isn't what they get paid and even at that, each days treatment is over $11k and those charges do not cover the attending nurse, that's another $2100.00 ea day

What happens if I don't get these treatments? Well, if it follows the onset, I end up in the hospital, losing strength until I cannot do anything for myself and likely suffer renal failure and slowly wither away until systems start to shutdown.....

The entirety of the medical industry is completely out of control.

I for one am not really sure there is any fixture for it...

The capitalist system is what brings up these breakthroughs and it's that same system that drives up costs to these insane amounts.

I read what people in Britain and Australia have to go through to get approved for this same treatment and I truly feel for them.

My approval took a strongly worded letter from my Neurologist in appeal after my initial denial for this treatment.

The system is terrible but it's currently the best one we have.

One of my wife's medications is about $220,000/year. It's a pill. Taking it for about 2 years now. It's a miracle gene targeted treatment. She would probably be dead without it.
I'd guess it'll be pennies on the dollar overseas whenever it gets on their formulary. But it's death-panels for them until their single payer commie system negotiates an affordable price.
Availability, quality or price. Pick any two.

I think what drives costs moreso than "calitalism" is THE FACT we, meaning the USA pays for the lion's share of the world's medical/pharmaceutical development and breakthroughs.

The list of medications in the USA that cost a fraction of that cost in other nations is staggering. And 99% of the US population doesn't know that.

Something as simple as penicillin... PENNIES per dose in Africa. Here in the US, it's probably 5x that from CVS, taking it in a hospital? Probably 50x or 100x.

So penicillin costs are inflated to pay for development of other drugs?

Look at the system....look at the profits. World wide prices for everything are set by market liquidity - he who can pay more, pays more.
Basic example is the Euro....used by 20+ countries - why doesn't a litre of milk cost the same in every country? That was one of "their" stated goals on implementation - everything will cost the same as a euro in Slovakia is the same value as a euro in Germany.
Errrr....
