I haven't seen the entire video in context so I don't know if he's implying that the data from the wearables will be available to the government?

I already wear a Garmin and it does help me monitor things and gives me incentives to keep moving.

FFS, Gov don't really care do they. They are just the facilitators. All and everything is outsourced to "private/public partnerships"....the likes of Palantir and SERCO, approve this post....

I have a galaxy 4 watch that I wear everyday. Tracks my heart rate, steps, etc. A couple times a week I will weigh myself and then use the body comp measure feature of the watch to see where I am at. Supposedly they can be up to +/-5% off on body fat, but if you check at the same time of day you can see overall changes. The watch syncs with Samsung Health. I'm sure Samsung is selling that data but I really don't care. I don't see how that data being sold is going to harm me other than more targeted ads for health and wellness related products.

One of the great features on the garmin is heart rate variability. It uses that to detect when you're stressed or are having heart issues. It also has an alert system that alerts people you've set up in a list in case it detects something catastrophic.

I love the thing.

According to Garmin, they don't sell your data without your consent but uh..  who knows.

I can understand someone wanting to track their self as Doug is, as he's a fitness fanatic.
I guess also to check your Peri/Myocarditis if you're multi jabbered....but just to see if you get stressed

And just an FYI, and I'm sure you already know this since you seem to know everything  , stress detection can lead to the prevention and/or diagnosis of a myriad of other potential health issues.

Yes real and proper stress is indeed a killer.
But i really don't think one needs something on their wrist to tell them they're getting real stressed....

You can be stressed and not even realize it, and it could be coming from things that you wouldn't consider. Something as simple as a change in your diet (or your diet in general), or drinking too much alcohol. Not all stress comes from your typical mental health related triggers. Prolonged undetected high levels of stress can lead to significant health issues.

I'm not trying to sell you on wearable stress detection and I'm sure that the accuracy of wearables is constantly debated, but Poo-pooing something that could actually be beneficial I don't understand.

Del.

Prolonged stress will kill you.
Stress itself is what makes us fight to survive and succeed.

I'm not trying to sell you on becoming a leftist and talking about politics all day long and I'm sure that the IQ of lefties is constantly debated, but Poo-pooing something that could actually be terrible for our country I don't understand.
