Exciting week at the shop.

Some time last week, I think it was Thursday, I heard a bunch of screaming coming from our shipping area. I don't usually get involved in things that aren't in my area, so I didn't bother to go see what was going on.

Yesterday morning, I noticed our shop foreman had left not even an hour after he showed up. I needed to talk to him about a couple of things, and he was nowhere to be found. Didn't tell anyone that he was leaving.

I found out that all the screaming last Thursday was him yelling at one of our shipping guys. Apparently it came really close to a physical altercation (I miss all the good stuff).

This morning, he came in and quit.  About 15 minutes later, the shipping guy got fired.

Down two employees and it's only Tuesday.

Was he one of those shipping guys that refused to do receiving? Seen that cause some tension. Hope you guys get it sorted!

I worked at my current employer previously ( early 2000's ) and one day heard some yelling in the deburr department.  right as I made my way around the corner I saw the lady that was in charge of debur backhand a younger kid.  Turns out he, had accidently scratched a part. 

She got fired.

He was a younger kid that didn't like to be criticized when he wasn't doing his job properly. Apparently he started threatening the foreman.

The dude who was the shop foreman, I've known since 1997. He came up in the same era of machining that I did, so he wasn't the kind of guy who wanted to show you how to do the same thing 5 times, and he would let you know that. I think that he could have used a better approach when voicing that. Calling people stupid doesn't build a great working relationship.

This shop foreman knows that I don't talk to the guys that work in my area that way. I always told him, if you need something, just come to me and I'll take care of it.  You never hear people yelling at each other on my side of the shop. I like it that way.

I've been here longer than the shop owner and at least 5 years longer than anyone else. What ever this place is, I feel like I've defaulted to that definition at this point.

The owner has asked me to take the shop foreman position in the past. I turned it down. I like what I'm doing. I'm hoping he doesn't try to convince me to take that position again.

To sum it up, threatened to punch the foreman in the face and stood there with his finger (the bird) in his face while telling him to f-off.

Hopefully he was just having a bad day and will come back now that the other person was fired.
