I don't see that happening.

This guy took over when the foreman that was here when I started, retired. He had some pretty big shoes to fill and didn't come close to filling them. Coming in this morning and leading the conversation with the big guy, with an ultimatum, probably wasn't a good idea. Then leaving without giving notice.  I don't think the shop owner would take him back.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

ultimatum's rarely result in a desired outcome.

I always liked to give a 2 minute notice before I walked out the door.

Quote from: neurosis on July 08, 2025, 08:36 AMTo sum it up, threatened to punch the foreman in the face and stood there with his finger (the bird) in his face while telling him to f-off.
Damn. Foreman did well not to punch the lil fuckker out.
Where i worked before my place, the foreman was also one of the first aiders.
Someone had previously given him shit and because of an audience, he let it ride....well a few weeks later the guy cut his finger bad so went to the toilets to put his hand in the sink and the foremen was called. They were left with just the one witness (friend of foreman) and apparently the guy with the cut passed out.
Foreman punched him in the mouth to wake him up :hrhr:
When the guy came round he was complaining about his jaw and the foreman told him yeh you hit your head on the basin when you went down :hrhr:

Another story - when the foreman was also on the machines, there was a new guy who started and had the ear of the owner - another great white hope
Guy had a BIG reputation locally for stirring shit in many different companies - never lasted long.
After a week new guy had stirred a lot of shit for everyone to the point where a few guys confronted him and told him to leave. This guy had more neck than a giraffe and told the owner who gave the foreman lots of shit.
Everyone obviously denied everything and it was obvious newguy wasn't going anywhere.
2 days later foreman had enough - when it was home time, newguy walked out to his car and found a concrete block through the glass roof sat on his seat with shards everywhere.
He never came back

There is no doubt about that. The foreman out-weighs the guy about at least 100 pounds and while he's not exactly in the prime of his life anymore, would toss that youngster around like a rag doll. I'm glad he kept his cool.

The owner has asked me to take the shop foreman position in the past. I turned it down. I like what I'm doing. I'm hoping he doesn't try to convince me to take that position again.

same here, being the OFG they're always wanting me to be the foreman lead man, I always tell them no way they can't afford me. I would need triple the wages no on the salary, stay hourly and triple the PTO rate.

hope you're lead returns

doombass ? did you misunderstand?
I have done it before. Been there a few times. I like machining, not baby sitting and going to meetings. Pressure from above pressure from below, no real powers regarding actual decision making.
Really just a go between, caught in the middle.
would need 150 and hour min. and 24 hours a month PTO. The no salary is so the overtime rate would have them begging me not to stay extra
