Yeah but how many of those states deliberately ignore fire prevention measures like forest management?
There's 1 for certain: California.

They STOPPED using basic fire mitigation techniques FOR DECADES like logging, controlled burns, etc.

My question, is since we appear to have wildfires in most US States every year, why is California the only State that seems to be singled out as being negligent?

1. human forest management is not permitted. The Green Nazis want our forests to be "natural"
  In nature, fire does the forest management.

2. The states has mandated a massive expansion of "green" energy. These mandates absorb the power company's
  maintenance budgets, so vital maintenance is neglected in favor of mandated "green" energy expansion.

The result.. when the wind blows, neglected power lines break, throw sparks and start fires.
The solution... when the wind blows too hard they turn our power off. Dead lines can't start fires.

Last fall my home was without power for a total of 6 days.
Aside from being without power, all the food in my freezer spoiled.
I filed a claim with the power company for $300 in spoiled food, but it was denied.
I could probably win the claim if I went to war with the power company, but it would cost far more than $300
to win.

I have natural gas at my house and I looked into installing a natural gas generator that would come on when the power got turned off. Sadly, natural gas generators are not "green" and new installations are illegal.

After much consideration I have decided that this state is governed by irredeemable fools and the best solution is to leave.

We've had wildfires here in CA for as long as I've lived here (42 years), and I don't recall that it ever mattered what flavor was "in office" at the time, no matter what the brain trust here might think. And I don't recall that Texas floods are a new thing either (no matter what team blue would have you think).

To elaborate further on "my point" from yesterday: I think it's cheesy to dunk on the other guy when they suffer some random misfortune that's likely happened to "your team/tribe" as well sometime in the past.

It's also hypocritical to whine about this when you're the butt of the joke, when you were more than happy to behave like an ass when you had the upper hand.

I used to think that folks that did our sort of work (machinists/programmers, toolmakers, business owners, AE's, etc) must somehow be smart enough to see through this, that somehow being logically gifted made us immune to the sort of media-influenced BS that most folks take at face value. And I in the San Gabriel Valley from 1960's to 1990's. We always had Forestry Maintenance.

In fact in High School we were offered summer Jobs with The Corps and Forestry Dept.

I know cause I worked one summer for them.
