Quote from: beej on July 15, 2025, 01:32 PMJust because they tried doesn't mean it had any effect. Look how much effort, media saturation,  and how much money was put into Harris getting elected. It still had no effect. Russia's attempts were a needle in a haystack compared to that.

Look how much money got put into Trump's campaign by his bro to counteract that.

Quote from: gcode on July 15, 2025, 12:39 PMthat is probably true, but that is not what Russiagate was about.

Russiagate alleged the Trump and Putin were colluding together to get Trump elected and there was zero evidence
to substantiate this.

Russiagate was the product of the Hillary Clinton campaign. They fabricated it, then it was run though the US

intelligence services as a legitimate investigation.

This included false testimony to Congress and presenting forged and fraudulent documents to FISA courts.

Proof that it was fabricated?

Hey at least they even presented documents. Trump just makes things disappear!

EVERY election cycle in the last 10-15 years has had the palpable presence of other state actors, real and electronic.

To suggest the intended effect is anything other than to sow discord, distrust and mayhem within our political process, you have not been paying attention to what the CIA has been doing to other nations for decades.

QuoteThe FBI is aggressive and tenacious by nature. Leaving no stone unturned in an investigation is a hallmark of FBI work because, more often than not, the bureau has the resources to throw at any investigation it pursues. Mid-Year Exam was referred to the FBI by the intelligence community's inspector general (IG) because the potential crimes of mishandling classified information and/or espionage fell under the FBI's mandate. Clinton's presidential candidacy put the FBI in the untenable position of being afraid that, no matter what it did, it could look political.

The FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ) engaged in a series of un-FBI-like tactics during the investigation. Among those was granting immunity to six people in a case in which nobody was prosecuted — unheard of in the FBI's 112-year history. After Congress sent out preservation letters about potential evidence, a computer hard-drive was destroyed by a company hosting Clinton's servers, without any legal repercussion. Numerous individuals were found to have lied to the FBI during initial interviews but were allowed to clean up their statements months later — very much unlike what happened in Crossfire Hurricane. The chief witness (if not the actual subject) of Mid-Year Exam, Hillary Clinton, was interviewed with a cadre of her attorneys in the room — including her chief of staff, herself a witness if not a potential subject of the investigation.

Let's be VERY generous, and posit for a minute that in 2016 if there was $150,000 spent by pro-Russia sources, and each dollar hit as hard the funding for the general campaigns, what is the $/vote efficiency? We'll also show the numbers for the past 3 elections for fun (Disclaimer, I let gpt do the heavy lifting, I have not fact checked these numbers and totals):

2016 - $/Vote Efficiency:

    Democrats: $1.2 B ÷ 65.79 M ≈ $18.24 per vote     -> Russian 150k buys 8,224 votes
    Republicans: $600 M ÷ 62.96 M ≈ $9.54 per vote    -> Russian 150k buys 15,723 votes

2020 - $/Vote Efficiency:

    Democrats: $1.68 B ÷ 81.27 M ≈ $20.68 per vote
    Republicans: $1.09 B ÷ 74.22 M ≈ $14.68 per vote

2024 - $/Vote Efficiency:

    Republicans: $1.45 B ÷ 74.65 M ≈ $19.42 per vote
    Democrats: $2.00 B ÷ 70.9 M ≈ $28.21 per vote

So if you can win/lose an election by the Russian influenced votes, you are doing something wrong. Also The Republicans run a tight ship in the $/vote ratings. Admirable.

It's about 50/50. The passes you guys give Trump day in day out is more funny than anything.

He's just bitter because California Democrats are conspiring to burn down his city so they can create more "affordable"housing.
