The best part of that article, was that it sparked a flood of memes using that photo.

I don't know if you saw the MSNBC footage they ran on youtube where every commenter had that photo (and the one with the curly hair) as their youtube profile photo. It was pages of comments with that photo.

The reason given for not allowing entry was that one of the photo's had marijuana paraphernalia. That sounds like a more plausible reason for denying entry, but the fact that they are forcing people to give access to their phones and social media accounts is ridiculous. Where the hell are we living now?

To add:

"Mikkelsen – not to be confused with the famous Danish actor of the same name –  told Nordlys that upon questioning by authorities, he admitted to having tried marijuana once in Germany and once in New Mexico, but that he didn't feel it was relevant because it was legal in both places. It's also legal in nearly half of the U.S., but not at the federal level. "

" Department of Home Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. "Mikkelsen was refused entry into the U.S. for his admitted drug use."

Apparently he was allegedly denied for admitting to using marijuana in the past.

LOL @ the fact that you felt you had to list a fact check site!

I am starting to think you may have undiagnosed TDS.

That isn't a fact check site. It's a site that uses past fact checks to analyze the bias and credibility of a source. It's the same thing that Allsides does.

I'm starting to think that you have that other kind of TDS. I don't think it requires a diagnosis.

There's the other version of trump derangement syndrome, which is you love him so much that when
he goes against something he said he would do, or he does something that's against your principles you change your own principles."

1) It's OUR country to which non-citizens have no inalienable right to enter. We get to say who and we get to say for how long. We can deny for cause. We can deny because the sky is blue. We can deny because he inhaled.
2) FEDS are responsible for entry into our nation, perhaps if the dude wasn't a brain dead stoner he might think for a minute to find out what the FEDERAL rules regarding drugs, paraphernalia, use, etc...This is like that WNBA dude... brought weed to a foreign country... and got busted and was surprised. And we traded a high value prisoner for that moron.
3) We are living in The U S of A. A sovereign country with rules for entry.

If people want to enter sovereign countries, they best find out what the rules are.

Isn't Del a stoner?  Are we throwing stones at stoners now?

Not allowing someone entry because they said that they smoked pot once in Germany? Or in States where it's legal in the US

It sure doesn't feel like the USA. They're going through US citizens phones, asking for passwords to social media, etc, and if you refuse, they can lock you up/detain you. You support that?

If you have a validated source for that I'll gladly join you in outrage and condemnation for TSA/Trump admin. However, so far it is just another unsupported hit piece.

I'm sorry , But that is the lamest excuse I have heard.
Do you do drugs? Yes. Any anti government propaganda? Yes. Can we have your password? Yes. Denied entrance.  ::) VICTIM!!!!! ::)

"CBP's authority to search electronic devices at the border is well established under the "border exception," which allows officers to conduct searches without a warrant for national security reasons. While historically rare, reports from 2024–2025 indicate a noticeable rise in device inspections, including the review of social media content, particularly following expanded national security directives."

Now I could post 20 articles that talk about reports of people saying they were detained and their phones searched at the border, but you would come back with "that's a liberal hit peice". So what would be the point?

But, refreshing to know that it's something you would be outraged by.

He throws me under the bus all the time, so the guilt trip angle isn't going to work. And that wasn't throwing him under the bus. It's not a secret.

Here's the thing, why all of the sudden is there this rash of phone inspections? Are you really telling me that you believe when Trump came in he fired all the union TSA workers and filled all those spots with his people? It's kind of like deportation numbers. If you compare Trump admin so far to Obama deportation numbers, there is no massive increase. It is just the media trying to spin it as some new massive injustice while they ignored it under Biden or Obama. Your quote says a noticeable rise in inspections. Let's see some actual data. Even further, how does TSA know to detain and inspect certain individuals. You really think homeland security has some massive database of people that have expressed left leaning views on social media and flagged them all for enhanced inspection/interrogation? Even more on that point, you think in 8 months of Admin change they were able to start this massive monitoring and flagging op, or was it already there under previous admins?
