asking me to take a survey

QuoteIn collaboration with Sandvik and Chemnitz University of Technology, we are conducting a study to better understand the requirements, needs, and expectations of Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Applications in machining.

Have you ever created CNC programs - either manually or using CAM software? If so, we would appreciate your input in our quick survey.

Please consider supporting our project with just 14 minutes of your time. Your insights are greatly appreciated.

The survey is anonymous and available in English. No personal data will be collected.

Thank you again for your time and insights.

The Mastercam Team

The survey was from a university in Germany
The questions were about automated AI powered CAM programming, tool management software, apps running in the cloud and my thoughts on  SaaS. (Software as a Service  = doublespeak for subscription licensing schemes)

It looks like Sandvik is thinking of expanding into other parts of manufacturing

Interesting....wasn't the kind of "push" survey where they're sent out to illicit specific answers the asking entity wants..

Do folks feel like CNC Software was pretty good about listening to user feedback, or not? Any discernible changes after Sandvik bought them, or is it too soon to tell?

Jeff wonders why he didn't get a survey in the email.

Does Jeff always talk about himself in the third person?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I'm going to guess that Jeff's email address was not the point of contact for maintenance renewal

or

Jeff's employer has uber aggressive email filters that block emails from commie universities in Germany.

Option 3, they know Jeff will be brutally honest and not hold back.

Well, I did tell them snowmen will dance in hell before I ever do SaaS (Software as a Service) (rent a license)
though I can see situations where it might be an option for a company.

I saw an article this weekend that said some large companies were now doing computers as  SaaS....
and since they were forcing employees to return to the office, they were doing desktops instead of laptops.

This is the reason the last shop owner wouldn't let me talk to salesmen.

We had a guy come in to compare their cutter to some Imco's we were running. The guy brought in a box of doughnuts, and we were standing there eating a doughnut when his cutter blew up.  I said "looks like the doughnuts lasted longer than your cutter".   The bosses face turned red.  :D

After that, if a salesman wanted to see me for some reason, it was by appointment only.

Imagine signing up to rent a licence as "i only need it for a week", and I download the latest and greatest, then go to configure and update posts and mac/machine defs, right click menu etc etc....guess i'll need a fortnight

I believe the shortest period available is 6 months
