Wow...
Hard to believe that could happen, but apparently the way he describes this case, it is fairly common practice.

We know the system is broken, but this seems like something that can and should be fixed.
I'm glad to hear that one of those watchdog legal outfits is trying to get the law changed, but at the same time it's a shame they have to.

He is a black man with a previous drug conviction. They are surely going to use that as an excuse to seize his cash. I think it is wrong 100%. Even if they think he is actually going there to buy drugs, until he does, carrying cash is not illegal.

Agreed.
The presumption of innocence until proven guilty is a foundational principle of our legal system, but it has been systematically undermined by these government agencies who think they can just do what they want with no accountability.

It's time for the Legislature and the Courts to get their act together and enforce the checks and balances that were put into place for exactly those reasons.
