We ALL know the entire planet would grind to a halt without us. 

We're not quite as critical as infrastructure services, but damn if we're not a close second.

We know our worth to this world, and for me personally, that's enough. It would be nice if the rest of the world recognized our contributions, but it's never gonna happen.

Yeah, it's kinda crazy, isn't it? Given that everything that doesn't get mined, grow outta the ground, or get birthed has somehow been MADE by machines (directly, or possibly indirectly), you've got to wonder why more folks don't understand what we do!

What sucks is that, with insurance, they knock 34,000 off a 51,000 bill. If I was self-funded would I be stuck with the whole 51,000?

Oh there is some scam going on with that.
I had to have an MRI done last year on my back. Price at the hospital as over $2000, with insurance. since I have a high deductible, that was my out of pocket price.  Price at a place right across the street, no insurance....$200. Sure the guy used a horseshoe magnet with a ACME sticker on it, but those are pretty powerful magnets. In all seriousness it was the EXACT same MRI machine as the hospital. Difference is the hospital wasn't taking their cut, insurance wasn't taking their cut, etc, etc. Somehow this place operates, pays employee's and overhead, and make money, for $200 per MRI.

I am due for a colonoscopy this year. So far in my shopping around, if I do it locally it will be $2000 out of pocket, since insurance only covers one every 10 years and because the Dr recommended I do every 3 years I am on the hook for it. If I drive 75 miles to have a camera up my butt....$750 and that is still with insurance getting their cut. I am looking around for a place that will do out of pocket pay and see that price.

Fucking insurance...and the whole US healthcare system is a fucking joke. I cannot name one person who thinks that it is fair for and insurance company to pay of you go to hospital A..but if you go to hospital B you are fucked.
