To speak to @Rstewart 's point, I don't believe that folks *really* consider any of these fools to be "journalists" in the traditional use of the word, and as such it's not really possible to have "went away" from this.

What we still refer to as the "news media" more closely resembles the "entertainment industry"; it's not about informing as much as amusing, with the intent to capture eyeballs and clicks in order to sell advertising. Yay....we can all believe whatever we want to believe, and dismiss objectional content as "fake news."
