Somebody needs to invent "Electric Kool-Aid" without the "electric" part....you know, sorta like decaf or diet beer! That way you could still be cool without the brain damage or disorientation....

Wait! Is that what they've already got with CBD oil and related stuff for pain management?

Ignoring all the previous water which i hoped was long under the bridge, to me.... it looks like panties are a little tight

Fair enough, but there may be some selective memory or lack of privy to all the information here. I just figured out that he was using the troll account less than a month ago (August 19th). When I called him out on it, he spent the next two weeks, even after I told him I'd hit the end of my rope with him, making sarcastic comments about it and toward me. He pulled the same b/s when I told him I had him on ignore. I told him that, hoping that he would tone it down. You saw how that went. Is there some bitterness there. I'd be lying if I said there wasn't.

A tiny bit of humility would have gone a long way with me over this. His "I played you" comment was the last straw.

Quote from: Brian on September 13, 2025, 02:16 PMIf there's one thing I don't get about this forum (actually, I see this on many/most web forums, sadly) it's folks who don't merely take issue with other's philosophies/tastes/political leanings-they go beyond that and resort to personal attacks. I've never really been able to understand this, let alone condone it as a way to go forth in the world.

I'm glad that I don't discuss politics anywhere else.  lol.  I would hate to believe that this how people really feel about each other.

I did mushrooms with some friends when I was 36. That was the first time I'd done anything like that since my teens, and the last time since.

With my addiction history... there's a lot of things off the table for me. Someone can have my share.

Quote from: Smit on September 12, 2025, 02:14 PMHow many people have been accosted/attacked for wearing a hat or shirt in a public location by a stranger?

How about for flying a flag at half mast?

How about for anything else?

I personally haven't seen much. I think most of the hate is driven by a bunch of talking heads who aren't reporting on news, they're spewing shit to rile up the masses so they can get paid.

Talking heads and social media in particular, but there are lots of people making a lot of money using the language of hate, divisiveness, and persecution.

And the more the the people consume it the more they want. An endless rant of rage and hate that makes it appear it's everywhere.

It would be nice if people would just think before buying into that shit. Maybe try to understand the ramificaitons of the stuff going on in this country and our government.

I know this post is going to get a lot of crazy emojis. Hell, I'd give myself one if I could.

Agree with the whole post. The only time I have ever really been verbally attacked was once when going to the circus, some animal rights activists were yelling in my ear with a loud speaker about animal abuse. And some people were screaming at me about worshipping the pope when I went to see john paul II in st louis.

Nutboy, anything you've "endured" is almost certainly caused because you're a fucking 50ish year old man who talks like a fucking middle school punk.

So if there really is anything (which I doubt) it's not relative to this thread. :coffee:

I can honestly say that the only place I've been given a hard time over politics, is this (and the old o/t) forum.

But I also don't plaster bumper stickers on my car, wear political attire, or ridicule other people when they do.

My experience is much like @neurosis 's, too. Most people most of the time are pretty cool in the world I occupy. While acknowledging that I'm a regular-looking guy (no outward signs of any particular political affiliation), I believe that if you go looking for trouble you can also find it just about anywhere! The folks who complain about this sort of thing seem to have a chip on their shoulder in my opinion. To be fair, I see this manifested from people of all stripes, not just libs, MAGA folks, or conservatives.

Interestingly enough, I also observe that the number of people who feel aggrieved or complain about this sort of thing far outnumber the folks who harness their displeasure and put it into action (volunteer *for* the cause you believe in, engage others in thoughtful debate, etc.). And I'm always gobsmacked when I learn that some blowhard doesn't vote!

I can't think of any reason, other than being malicious, that anyone on this, or any other forum, would create a separate account with the secific intent of hiding your identity, deceivingly use that account to post as a different person, even comment on your own posts across the two accounts - call me names under the fake account.  You'll have to make that case for me.

I do respect your opinion. Maybe I can't see it because I'm too close.

Yes. Trust me, I know. It's too short to deal with that nonsense daily. When you ask someone to stop, and they just push harder...  I feel like I'm a worse person when I talk to incog because of it.

Do you remember when James left eWC, then just like Hotel California, returned posting as GnoGueyJose?
And one day, Junior Hardmill appeared, and started posting. And having live conversations with Hardmill?
Incogs new account - it was obvious it was him right off the bat?
Just like the others.

I think you should accept his ice cream offer :ice: and certainly you need a beer or 10 with him and Del.

I think it's totally reasonable to set a minimum standard for conduct (not just here, but in life generally), and then hold people accountable to this.

There are plenty of ways to express our differences without resorting to below-the-belt behavior.

Soft-pedaling bad behavior is just an evasion.
