I just got back from a trip to New Orleans. My reason for going was to spend a couple days in the World War 2 museum. It takes a couple days if you want to read most of the stuff and watch the videos. It's an excellent museum, well worth a visit if you're interested in that kind of stuff.

I also got to eat some great Cajun food and wander around Bourbon street and the French Quarter. On the third day I did a city tour on the "Hop on, Hop off tour bus. As the name suggests, there is a tour guide telling you about the history of the city and you can get off at any one of 18 stops, then get back on to travel to a different part of the city. Another bus comes along every 25 minutes.

It's a cool city, and lots of things to see and do there.

:Edit: They also have an Aquarium and Insectarium as well. I went to both and they were both pretty good too. The aquarium was focused more on local fauna but they did have some stuff from the Pacific.

I have never wanted to go to New Orleans because of the climate. We spent half of our vacations as a kid going down to that part of the country and I hated it.

I might be tempted to go to visit that museum.

I love WW 2 stuff. My dad was in that war. I have several pics.

Summer in the gulf states suck, no doubt about it. It was really not bad this week, many of the locals said they were enjoying the break in the weather. It was hotter in KC than in New Orleans. In the evening it was really pleasant.

Having said that, October, November, March and April are my favorite times to go there. I just had a great break in my schedule to fit New Orleans in this week. I got lucky on the weather. :)

I'd like to visit that museum for sure.

The National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico is another really good one.

The daughter and SiL were in Quantico for a few years but the museum was closed for Covid much of that time. We only got to go once near the end of their time there.
