Quote from: beej on September 17, 2025, 06:15 AMmore irony...the people who celebrate Kirk's death because they didn't like his speech are upset about something "significantly less than death" happening to them because of their speech.
Some of these morons have started a GoFundMe because they were fired.
And of course, others have to create a video of them having a meltdown because they got fired.
It's glorious.

Every time these idiots experience an emotion they have to record it and put it online for attention.

Interesting but somewhat long read -

Constituent Parts of a Theory of Spectacular Acts of Public Violence

https://freddiedeboer.substack.com/p/constituent-parts-of-a-theory-of

This can almost be summed up in the last paragraph for the tldr;

"There is a moment when the ambient, low-level radiation of purposeless violence ceases to be mere noise and becomes the trigger for a terminal feedback loop. We appear poised at the event horizon of a cascade where the smallest act, committed in the absence of ideology, could initiate a period of truly ugly and spectacular public violence, a kinetic reaction that will reshape the social phase space with terrifying, unpredictable certainty. Do I know that we're there, or heading there? No, not at all. Does it seem very plausible to me? Yes, yes it does. Hard to say. But I am haunted by the possibility."

I had never noticed the guys name until he got shot.

So his thing was going around talking to kids about his brand of politics and outlook on life?

Did he have a day job as well? If not, how did he support himself while trotting around talking to kids? :headscratch:

Just wondering...I'm not sure how the new world where an "influencer" is a big deal even works.

Let's just say you're a few years past his target demo.

He was kind of a less obnoxious and Christian version of Ben Shapiro.

People heard his message, liked it, and paid him to keep doing it. He started a youtube channel, it became popular, he made some money through that. He wrote some books. They sold well, he made some more money. This is not new. MLK was not independently wealthy. People who agreed with his message funded his message.

I read yesterday, that even after his death, a spokesperson for Turning Point came out with a critical statement of Pam Bondi saying that her threat to target hate speech is the "most destructive phrase that has ever been uttered ... She needs to be removed as attorney general now."

I have to hand it to them. They continue to stick to his/their principles, even at a time like this.

many conservatives have come out against her statement. we believe what we believe.

on the other hand, people who are complaining about being cancelled now, probably signed the change.org petition to get Harrison Butker fired from the KC Chiefs because they didn't like a speech he gave.

Adhering to principals isn't too common these days. That's why their statement stuck out to me.

If anyone here gets around to watching "Manufacturing Consent" there's a good bit (around 2H:10min if I remember correctly) where he goes into this in a little detail while discussing this with folks taking issue with his "defense" of someone with an "offensive" point of view.

It's always amazing to see a lawyer, of all people, get it wrong about something like this! To be fair, I suppose this makes a little more sense when you consider one of the qualifications for employment in this administration is loyalty/fealty and not adherence to principles!

there is a problem in the country right now and the problem is, we don't know which rules to play by.

People on the right want a free market place of ideas, but at the same time, they get kicked off of social media for things that social media platforms label, as offensive. Kids in universities are pressured in to using female pronouns for people who were not born as a female and shouted down if they don't abide. Soon the question becomes, "Do we continue to follow the rules of etiquette or do we start playing by the rules of the people who are against us?"

I know that I am speaking in generalities here because, I am talking about Macrocosms rather than microcosm. And I am completely sure that the left has some equal grievances about the right.  But what clearly seems to me to be the problem is that we need to decide what rules of engagement we are going to use.

Is it cancellation and violence or is it free market of ideas and debate. I know what I want. what does the rest of the nation want?

he had just ended a man's life in front of his wife and children, and the greater public. And he was worried about what his dad was going to say about losing his grandpa's gun.

https://www.newsweek.com/tyler-robinson-roommate-lance-twiggs-charlie-kirk-texts-2130798

QuoteIn messages sent just after the shooting, Robinson directed Twiggs to look under his keyboard. The following exchange then took place, according to prosecutors:

Twiggs: What?????????????? You're joking, right????
Robinson: I am still ok my love, but am stuck in Orem for a little while longer yet. Shouldn't be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.
Twiggs: You weren't the one who did it, right????
Robinson: I am, I'm sorry.
Twiggs: I thought they caught the person?
Robinson: No, they grabbed some crazy old dude, then interrogated someone in similar clothing. I had planned to grab my rifle from my drop point shortly after, but most of that side of town got locked down. It's quiet, almost enough to get out, but there's one vehicle lingering.
Twiggs: Why?
Robinson: Why did I do it?
Twiggs: Yeah.
Robinson: I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven't seen anything about them finding it.
Twiggs: How long have you been planning this?
Robinson: A bit over a week I believe. I can get close to it but there is a squad car parked right by it. I think they already swept that spot, but I don't wanna chance it.
Robinson: I'm wishing I had circled back and grabbed it as soon as I got to my vehicle. I'm worried what my old man would do if I didn't bring back grandpa's rifle. Idek if it had a serial number, but it wouldn't trace to me. I worry about prints. I had to leave it in a bush where I changed outfits. Didn't have the ability or time to bring it with.
Robinson: I might have to abandon it and hope they don't find prints. How the fuck will I explain losing it to my old man... Only thing I left was the rifle wrapped in a towel.
Robinson: Remember how I was engraving bullets? The fuckin messages are mostly a big meme. If I see "notices bulge uwu" on Fox News I might have a stroke.
Robinson: Alright I'm gonna have to leave it. That really fucking sucks.
Robinson: Judging from today I'd say grandpa's gun does just fine idk. I think that was a $2k scope ;-;
Robinson: Delete this exchange.
Robinson: My dad wants photos of the rifle... he says grandpa wants to know who has what, the feds released a photo of the rifle, and it is very unique. He's calling me rn, not answering.
Robinson: Since Trump got into office, [my dad] has been pretty diehard MAGA.
Robinson: I'm gonna turn myself in willingly. One of my neighbors here is a deputy for the sheriff.
Robinson: You are all I worry about love.
Twiggs: I'm much more worried about you.
Robinson: Don't talk to the media please. Don't take any interviews or make any comments. If any police ask you questions ask for a lawyer and stay silent.

That is some lame dialogue. Mark my words, this is the same formula as the Patsy Luigi: SPptted by a legally blind octogenarian in a McDonalds, happened to have a mnaifesto and 'the' gun. Not a chance.

I will never believe this is the guy, this has manufactured evidence all over it, with more than a slight lilt to get the right pissed off about trannies.
