Oppressed and Evil
QuoteThe WNBA star (and Russian basketball player), Brittney Griner, a Black Lives Matter supporter, isn't just a kneeler. She doesn't want the national anthem played at her games and wouldn't go on the floor during the anthem.

Griner is being held in Russia and faces ten years in jail because of a drug charge, having been found with hash vape pens in her luggage.

She was playing in Russia because she didn't feel she was making enough money in the States. Griner was playing off-season in Russia for $1 million.

Brittney Griner didn't take the floor for the national anthem during the Phoenix Mercury's debut in the WNBA bubble in 2020.

She told reporters at the time:
"I honestly feel we should not play the national anthem during our season," Griner said, per The Arizona Republic. "I think we should take that much of a stand."

She kept the protest up:
"I'm going to protest regardless," she said. "I'm not going to be out there for the national anthem. If the league continues to want to play it, that's fine. It will be all season long, I'll not be out there. I feel like more are going to probably do the same thing. I can only speak for myself."

She's oppressed and believes America is evil.

She's been in a Russian prison since February and is facing a 10 year sentence
for a THC laced vape pen, I wonder what she thinks now that she has seen true evil ???

Fox News

QuoteBrittney Griner's Russian legal team said Thursday that the WNBA superstar "decided to take full responsibility for her actions" when she pleaded guilty to a drug charge in a court in Moscow and hoped the sentence won't be severe.

Griner was arrested in February for allegedly bringing vape cartridges containing oils derived from cannabis through a Moscow airport.

She has been held in jail since Feburary. Griner faces a 10-year sentence.

Yeah that's just delicious. Lol

Jeff

I believe she only pled guilty because Russia wants a "crime lord" that we have of theirs as a prisoner exchange.

She's also gay and married to a woman which is highly illegal over there. So no matter what they can prosecute her. I'd assume the drug charge is light compared to others she could be facing.

You can be gay in Russia, just no same sex marriages as far as I know.
But the mere fact that she protested the National Anthem and now she's waiting for the U.S. to free her is both hilarious and ironic.
As long as she's being treated fairly and healthy, I say she should rot for a while longer over there to make her appreciate just how great she had it over here when she comes back.

I don't think she is.
I saw some photos of her about a month ago and she looked really rough.
Her face looked like she was starting into the pit of hell.
She looked much better in the photos that were released yesterday.
No matter how you look at it, she has had an eye opening experience.
It will be interesting to see what her attitude is if/when she returns to the US.

Not that I am a fan of our citizens being incarcerated in foreign lands... however, when one travels to foreign lands, it would behoove the individual to be FULLY aware of the laws pertinent to one's lifestyle. Controlled substances with VERY few exceptions are a No-Go. Ignorance is no excuse. Her situation is completely and totally her fault.

^^^^^ this ^^^^^

when I was stationed in Japan, the Marine Corp turned you over to the Japanese government for drug violations
the average sentence for pot possession was 7 years. The life expectancy of Americans in the Japanese prison system
was 5 years. The diet was meager, not enough to support an American, and you weren't allowed to speak.... ever
Skimpy thin clothing, little or no heat, a very poor diet and zero human contact.
Americans just melted away and died. That was not enough to stop some bone heads from smuggling pot in from the Philippines though.
I also had a couple of high school friends who were busted in Turkey with a substantial quantity of hash.
Neither of them survived their stupidity

I remember when Clinton traitor, serial rapist and pedophile was POTUS, some silver spoon dip shit of a kid vandalized a/some car(s)... in Singapore. Dumbass!

The American people had the audacity to "demand" leniency for a 'trivial" crime.

When abroad.... be on your better than best behavior. ESPECIALLY if you're an American.

I suspect that it won't get any better. She'll use the amount of time it's taken to bring her home as an excuse to hate the Country even more.  Her wife has been ranting about it already.

I kinda look at it this way. We have people who move here from oppressive Countries and yet still complain about how bad it is here. Not that things don't need to be fixed.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.
