Someone tell me if a person mails in a ballot a month before Election Day that you can verify with certainty it actually was that person.

In Washington State they use signature verification.

I'm sure those could potentially be forged, but I doubt that you would get enough of these to sway an election.

Like it or not (not you personally, speaking generally) mail in voting isn't going away in Washington State.  Republicans refusing to get on board in this State only makes it more difficult for them to get votes in.  Statistics show that the easier it is to vote, the more people that will vote. If only one side gets on board and the other keeps calling it taboo and telling their base not to trust or use it, the side willing to take advantage of it is going to have the advantage every single election.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Del.

An older person could sign it when someone else filled it out for them.

I bet a minimum of 90% of mail ballots are Democratic votes.

Yup. Here in Massachusetts we just voted to punish hard working successful people and reward those who break the law. It's all backwards.

Yup, I watched that and can't believe it really happened but the residents of MA just voted to slice their own throats

Quote from: Smit on November 10, 2022, 04:47 AMI've shown my ID when I vote for decades. I wonder which states don't have that requirement?

PA for sure.

The Democratic Party here in PA have been fighting against voter ID laws tooth and nail for decades.
They claim voter ID laws are racist and that they discriminate against the poorest members of society because it is difficult for them to obtain ID's.

It's absolutely ludicrous to think that a person who is among the poorest in our state doesn't already have some form of ID they need to be able to access public benefits, yet the Democrats are sticking to that ridiculous premise.

So the rest of us are naturally wondering what the REAL reasoning is behind their continued resistance to enacting voter ID laws.  :headscratch:

I would hazard a guess, but then I would be labeled a conspiracy theorist... :harhar:

The truly amazing part is right now they are refunding 3 billion dollars in excessive taxes.

I haven't seen the statistics, but it wouldn't surprise me if the number was that lopsided, even in a State where mail in voting *is* the way we vote. There is a reason for that.

Both sides have the same opportunity to take advantage of it and yet only one side does.

Your unstated haphazardly guess is the correct one.

Interest rates will be 10+% soon.
Inflation will rise and rise - what's the real now - 15%?
There will be strikes happening (we have an indefinite lorry one in Spain starting monday).
I would have thought by now, people would realise that the plan is to crash the whole show.
To build back better....

I don't know about that. Maybe if they change their messaging and stop talking about things like national abortion bans, or stop the steal, and actually focus on the things about the republican party that the independents are on board with.

in fairness. The main message of the republican party was fixing inflation, crime, and the border. those are things independents worry about. There were only a 2 or 3 republicans that said anything about a national ban on abortion. But those couple of republicans that said it was enough for main stream media to run with it on the 6 o'clock news. Lyndsey Graham said it, I can't really remember any others, but I'm sure there were a couple who said something along the lines to get primary votes in heavily conservative areas.

Once the mid-terms got rolling, any candidate that was ever caught on audio or video saying that they would support a national abortion ban was aired over and over and over and over again in Democrat campaign ads. Pretty much every single Republican in Washington State was caught on audio or video at least once supporting the ban.
