Then why would you make that the basis for whether a preborn baby has rights as a person. why not use something binary, like, oh say, they are a human or they are not human.  You pretty much just obliterated your own original point that got this whole conversation started.

Which would you say has more consciousness, more mental ability, an adult dog or a 3 week fetus?  How about a frog vs. that same fetus?  Do you grant rights to the frog?

If that frog were able to engage in philosophical debate, we would call it a person and grant it rights.

As far as using the "is it human" test, that would grant rights to my skin tags, and I would be a murderer for picking them off and letting them die.  They have my full genetic code, and in the right environment they could become fully developed and functioning human beings.  Do my skin tags have rights?  If not, why?

Matthew believes aliens exist because he has seen evidence he deemed credible. Many people have not seen evidence so they don't believe him.
