Summary of Kommieforniastan bill AB-665.

THEY get to decide if parental consent is "appropriate" for YOUR 12 year old...

https://trackbill.com/bill/california-assembly-bill-665-minors-consent-to-mental-health-services/2365694/

QuoteAB 665, as introduced, Wendy Carrillo. Minors: consent to mental health services.Existing law, for some purposes, authorizes a minor who is 12 years of age or older to consent to mental health treatment or counseling on an outpatient basis, or to residential shelter services, if the minor is mature enough to participate intelligently in the outpatient services or residential shelter services, as specified, and either the minor would present a danger of serious physical or mental harm to themselves or to others or if the minor is the alleged victim of incest or child abuse. For other purposes, existing law authorizes a minor who is 12 years of age or older to consent to mental health treatment or counseling services if the minor is mature enough to participate intelligently in the outpatient services or counseling services. This bill would align the existing laws by removing the additional requirement that, in order to consent to mental health treatment or counseling on an outpatient basis, or to residential shelter services, the minor must present a danger of serious physical or mental harm to themselves or to others, or be the alleged victim of incest or child abuse.Existing law, for some purposes, requires that the mental health treatment or counseling include involvement of the minor's parent or guardian unless the professional person treating or counseling the minor determines that the involvement would be inappropriate. For other purposes, existing law requires the involvement of the parent or guardian unless the professional person who is treating or counseling the minor, after consulting with the minor, determines that the involvement would be inappropriate. This bill would also align the existing laws by requiring the professional person treating or counseling the minor to consult with the minor before determining whether involvement of the minor's parent or guardian would be inappropriate.

Last week, I couldn't buy super glue at Walmart without showing an ID to prove that I was over 18. So a 12year old isn't allowed to buy superglue without a parent, but they can get medical treatment without a parent?

I don't know much about that bill but it seems like something that could have unintended consequences. Some times kids that young use that kind of leverage to get back at their parents not realizing what the actual consequences are going to be.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

That is EVERY law, regulation, etc... 1st order consequences aren't considered most of the time. 2nd order consequences are rarely considered. 3rd and 4th order consequences are NEVER considered.

In this case, I don't think you have to go beyond 1st order to figure out just how bad this could get for a LOT of kids who's parents are afraid to go up against those shitbird leftist running this state.

I'm more worried that a 12 year old may not fully understand what they're getting themselves in to when they tell a counselor "my parents aren't accepting me for who I really am".

They have plenty of other overt ways to attempt that. This... this is far more sinister than coming up with creative ways to violate our Constitutional Rights.

This about the state usurping YOUR parental rights should you ever choose to go down that path at some point in your life.

I don't have any minor children so it doesn't affect me any more.

Pff if I had kids I would be part of the problem

CADCAM396

our state has been stripping the rights of parents for years. my kids are all grown up now but.
when one was a teen, was making some very bad decisions and as a parent the state tied my hands.
just for instance, went off the deep end and over dosed, we had to work back channels to find out results of just what they over dosed on (it was all hush hush we cant legally tell you without release of information by your defient nearly killed themself teen) WTF.
I wanted to know if it came from within the house or outside, would put us a little closer to deter it from happening again. ya think.
that was another life so dont want to go into details. both my kids finally figured out how to make much better choices, just needed the nudge.

Good Job as a Parent. :)

It no longer affects me directly but I have kids here that have minor children and the thought of the state usurping their parental authority is infuriating.

I can't wait until the day I can leave this leftist infested 3rd World Bannana Republik shithole. But sadly, the good idea fairy thst lives here has wings and brings that shit to Washington DC...

The second I'm able to retire I'll be moving out of Washington State. Or at a minimum, getting out of King County.

I can handle a little progressivism, but as you would expect, their solution to problems that they create, is to throw more tax dollars at it. Then when that doesn't work, it's not because the solution was wrong, it's because we haven't done enough of it.

Smithead and Tybear would say its because Republicans fought against it.

It's sad that we're in a place now that we don't vote *for* party or platform, we vote against them. Nobody probably cares what the platform is of the people they're voting in to office anymore as long as their party wins.

The same people that vote these people in to office in Washington State, are the same people who complain that they can't afford their vehicle tabs, property tax, etc. yet the people *they* put in office are the ones taxing them out of their homes.

Ironically, for a State that's been run by Democrats for the last 50 years, we have the most regressive taxes in the nation.
