One of Trump's main goals was to bring more manufacturing back into the U.S...

Who will do the work? Seriously.

It ain't coming back.

We are missing two generations of manufacturing professionals.

I'm 50 and still a young toolmaker in our area.

Not too long ago the wife and I contemplated on moving out to El Paso.  I could work at White sand missile range and she tele-works for missile defense agency.  Well that's certainly off the table now.  I liked that town a lot, now it's over run by illegals, FJB!

Our immigration problem STARTED with Reagan. Kills me to say it but truth is truth regardless of who perpetrated the deed. He signed the amnesty bill into law which began the shit show amd opened the floodgates we're watching today. Fuckin' Ronnie. Man he screwed us. HARD!

What does AI think of open borders.....

The Cons of Open Borders and the Need for Secure Borders and Regulated Immigration Process

The global society, interconnected and interdependent, is undeniably in a constant state of flux. With the advent of technology, the world has been reduced to a global village, and borders seem to be fading, at least conceptually. Some proponents argue for open borders, envisioning a world where individuals are free to move from one country to another. However, while the idea seems appealing in principle, it is fraught with numerous concerns. In this essay, we will explore the cons of open borders and discuss the need for secure borders and a regulated immigration process.

The Cons of Open Borders

One of the most significant concerns about open borders is national security. In a world where terrorism, international crime, and other security threats are prevalent, open borders could be a catalyst for these activities. It's not to suggest that immigrants are inherently dangerous or criminal, but open borders could make it easier for individuals with malicious intent to move across countries without being detected or monitored.

The second con is the potential strain on public resources. Many developed countries have extensive public welfare systems, funded by taxpayers. With open borders, there could be an influx of immigrants seeking to benefit from these systems, potentially overwhelming them. This could lead to increased taxes or a decrease in the quality or availability of services, which would negatively impact both the native population and the immigrants.

Next, there is the issue of labor market disruption. Open borders could lead to a massive influx of workers, which could create competition for jobs, potentially driving down wages and increasing unemployment among the native population. This would be particularly true in lower-skilled jobs where immigrants are often overrepresented.

Open borders could also create cultural integration challenges. Rapid and unregulated immigration could lead to segregated communities and cultural tension, as seen in several European countries that have accepted large numbers of immigrants in recent years. While multiculturalism has many benefits, it requires careful management to ensure social cohesion and avoid conflict.

The Need for Secure Borders

Secure borders are a cornerstone of national security. They allow a country to regulate who and what enters and leaves, aiding in the prevention of illegal activities such as smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal immigration. By having secure borders, nations can maintain control and sovereignty, ensuring the safety and well-being of their citizens.

Secure borders also contribute to economic stability. By controlling the flow of people and goods, countries can protect their markets and industries. They can prevent the importation of illegal or dangerous goods and ensure that imports and exports meet their standards and regulations. This contributes to a stable and predictable business environment, which is essential for economic growth and development.

The Need for a Regulated Immigration Process

A regulated immigration process addresses many of the cons associated with open borders. By having a process in place, countries can control the number and type of immigrants they admit. This allows them to manage the impact on public resources, the labor market, and social integration.

A regulated immigration process can also serve economic needs. Many countries, such as Canada and Australia, have point-based immigration systems that favor immigrants with skills that are in demand in their economies. This ensures that immigration contributes positively to the economy and doesn't lead to excessive competition for jobs.

A regulated process also enables better integration of immigrants. It provides an opportunity for countries to ensure immigrants understand their rights and responsibilities and are prepared to participate fully and positively in their new communities. This can help to prevent segregation and cultural tension and promote social cohesion.

Moreover, a regulated immigration process is a matter of fairness. It ensures that everyone has an equal opportunity to immigrate and that decisions are not arbitrary or biased. It also discourages illegal immigration by providing a legal and transparent pathway to immigration.

Conclusion

While the idea of open borders, of an unimpeded flow of people between countries, may seem attractive in an increasingly globalized world, it's important to consider the potential cons associated with it. National security, economic stability, and societal cohesion could be jeopardized by the lack of control and oversight.

Secure borders and a regulated immigration process, on the other hand, allow for a balance between welcoming new citizens and maintaining societal equilibrium. They ensure that national security is not compromised, that economic stability is maintained, and that immigrants can be successfully integrated into their new communities.

In an ideal world, borders would not be a barrier to the movement of people. However, in the complex and often volatile world we live in, they serve a crucial purpose. As such, a regulated immigration process, one that is fair, transparent, and adaptable to changing circumstances, is vital to ensuring that immigration remains a positive force for all involved.

Therefore, as much as we strive for global unity and freedom of movement, the present reality necessitates the maintenance of secure borders and a regulated immigration process. This approach allows us to enjoy the benefits of immigration while mitigating the potential downsides, ensuring a harmonious coexistence of diverse populations in a secure and prosperous society.

Something I believe the AI may have briefly touched but not addressed.

You would have to Assume, The majority of immigrants are unskilled and impoverished.

I said Assume.

Therefore they will be seeking housing and such in the poorer neighborhoods.

Already rampant with unemployed and underserved population, generally these are Black and Minority communities.

With low resources and prevalent crime risks. such as gang and drug activity.

Only escalating the poverty and crime in the associated areas.

There are many places in Cali,Chicago and St Louis. Where you just don't go.   :o

I told it to keep it to approx 2000 words. It probably would include more of those concepts if it were allowed to keep going

There is not much open space left in Los Angeles proper.

There are thousands if not 10's of 1,000's of acres of open space in San Francisco Bay Area not allowed to be developed because current residents want to keep their absurd property values. The put the veil of "environmentally responsible" over their desire to keep the open spaces open to assuage their conscience, but let's facevit; it's about the money. I know it. They know it. We ALL know it.

Most of the leftists are for open borders as long as they don't see AND pay for the aftermath.
