Wonder why the mothership didn't see any bubbles or hear a boom come to the surface. You'd think there would have at least been an eruption of bubbles.

So my morbid curiosity got the best of me. I was wondering exactly how fast it would happen and what the actual effects to the human body would be.

The good news it happens faster than you can think. The bad news is, the ain't recovering your body...

QuoteCatastrophic Implosion of a submersible explained:

When a submarine hull collapses, it moves inward at about 1,500 miles per hour - that's 2,200 feet per second.

The time required for complete collapse is 20 / 2,200 seconds = about 1 millisecond.

A human brain responds instinctually to stimulus at about 25 milliseconds. Human rational response (sense→reason→act) is at best 150 milliseconds.

The air inside a sub has a fairly high concentration of hydrocarbon vapors.

When the hull collapses it behaves like a very large piston on a very large Diesel engine.

The air auto-ignites and an explosion follows the initial rapid implosion. Large blobs of fat (that would be humans) incinerate and are turned to ash and dust quicker than you can blink your eye.

Within the implosion, there is a explosion, that would likely instantly use up and oxygen, at 10,000+ feet, there wasn't much, if anything to come to the surface that would be substantial.

Just following along with the steps that happen, it would seem to make sense.

But there is still a byproduct/exhaust/release from the explosion, be it CO, CO2, Methane, whatever it is, is still a gas that will rise to the surface. The oxygen doesn't just disappear, it converts to another gas that rises to the surface.

Maybe bubbles could of been spotted if the water was smooth. In a choppy ocean, and the bubbles had to ascend a couple of miles, being dissipated along the journey, I doubt one could notice even if they were right on top of where the bubbles came up.

Debris field banging around in the current?

I had read somewhere that the currents in the area, even at such depth, are quite strong.

The US Nazy has an anti submarine sensor array deployed over most of the worlds oceans.
Apparently this array detected the explosion and reported it to OceanGate within minutes of the explosion.
Bottom line, everyone in charge knew the vehicle was gone and its passengers were dead from the start.
and
the 19 year old on board was absolutely terrified and didn't want to go.
He gave in an went as a Father's Day present for his dad.

So all they had to do was say that, but then they wouldn't have gotten taxpayer funding for a "search and rescue" mission.

They did....

The question arose was it "really" the submersible....they HAD to continue, I will put ZERO fault in continuing to finding the wreck.
