I can't imagine dealing with that (your parents passing) Del. I'm sorry.

I'm an only child and my patents divorced when I was 15 or 16. In January 2010 my dad passed.

My mom is still alive but we've not been close since I got married. She lives about a 6 hour drive frome me. I have no idea what her final wishes or arrangements are. I've asked but she avoided the subject so either my cousin that lives near her knows and she doesn't want to tell me or I'll figure it out.Whatever.

I can't imagine having siblings that would make those end of life decisions even harder than they already are. And if the parents have not made their wishes known, it becomes infinitely more difficult.

Teaching a couple in their late 80's how to use a remote control for streaming is hazardous to your health. Thank God for drugs and alcohol

Both have ipads...one is 3 years older than the other so one parent can't help the other as buttons are different....
Mother gets shouted at for not thinking - fingers move way too fast tap tap tap tap.
Dad is only interested in the horse racing....and will not and never has had, a mobile phone. Because the ol lady will be phoning him at the book makers telling him to come home.
Luckily my sister lives 20 mins from them.
Luckily for me, I live 1000 miles from them!

This is a common response from me " Let go of the fuckin button!!   "

Seriously my neighbor behind me has his mom and dad living next door to me. Dad 96 Mom 89. He threatened to throw her under the house because she is convinced there is water under there yesterday. Lol

They should make a remote control for old people.

I drove a hour each way to show my Mil and Fil how to use the remote along with step by step instructions on index cards. Lasted 24 hours before Fil messed it up again. They got to arguing as to whose fault it was and he told her " Who gives a shit". Lol

It's like trying to teach Biden the difference between Iraq and Ukraine.

My FIL, and before she passed, MIL, are on our ATT plan. Every time my wife upgrades her phone she upgrades theirs to the same phone so she can walk them through anything without being there.

My Mil was doing fine and then Fil who has dimentia stole the remote from her and just starts pressing buttons and he gets it off the network. I haven't gone over that with them as to how to do it. Sad to see him decline so rapidly.

My FIL has this old ABN Church network satellite dish on his house. He had a 20+ year old TV to watch it. We decided to get them a new TV so they could have Roku and watch streaming content. I found his ABN channel on Roku for him and set it up, but he still gets lost and calls about every other week for help. We usually end up video calling so we can see what he sees on the TV.

I tried FaceTime with her.  Didn't go well.
She only wants to watch this Catholic channel. I set the TV to default to that on startup. Obviously God had other plans. Lol
They hold the remote with one hand and use other hand to navigate
I'm driving over again today for lesson 2.

I guess I am ok with the occasional tech difficulties. My FIL is a cantankerous old man that is extremely difficult to deal with. I am glad he is capable of living on his own because he couldn't afford to be in any kind of assisted living. My wife has four siblings but we are probably the only ones capable of taking him in. Every day he can live on his own with tech troubles is a day less with us. Love the man, but he is difficult.

Apparently My step Dad went down and my Mom decided He was too big to pick up and she decided Not to call 911.

So he laid there for two days before someone checked in.

Luckily he is now in the nursing home.

otherwise she would have been stepping over his body to get to the bathroom. :o
