My brother that I mentioned before just had triple bypass surgery over the holiday weekend. He had a mild heart attack Thursday evening. Turns out, he has been having chest pains and shortness of breath for several months. Yet, he was absolutely shocked, SHOCKED, I tell, you to find he needed bypass surgery. He said, "I went to the cardio 3 years ago and everything was fine!"

Greg, your mom died a of heart attack when she was 64; your dad died because of an occluded blood vessel in his groin that cut off blood flow to his legs, not to mention the fact that he had quintuple bypass surgery when he was in his mid-60s. And, he had a mild stroke. Your brother has congestive heart failure and suffered a chf exacerbation a year ago. You've had chest pains and shortness of breath for months.

And you're shocked, SCHOCKED, I tell you, that this happened to you.

I'm pretty shocked, too, but probably not for the same reason.

My Father In-Law was in the same boat. Shortness of breath etc... went into his Primary Care Doctor (Dr. Starr in Fullerton California) for his annual checkup.. "You're in great shape Wayne. See you next year."

2 Days later... heart attack. 90% blockage and a 5-Way bypass surgery.  That was probably 15 years ago.

So now the running joke in the family after a doctor's visit is "... are you good, or are you Dr. Starr good?...".

As if that wasn't enough, he continued to see Dr. Starr until he passed away a few years ago. This is the same doctor that kept pressing him to get tha 'rona job... he got 3 and was anxious to get the 4th. He (my FIL) was an ardent proponent of the flu shot... abd everythging else he saw on CNN, MSNBC, etc...

Did the jab kill him off? Dunno. Official COD on the death certificate... multi-organ failure.

The same thing happened to my mom. Clean physical, a few weeks later she was dead. It was in 1999 so I'm pretty the vaccine had nothing to do with it
To be fair to my brother, he has the kind of heart disease that doesn't show up on an EKG.

Jeez'...a couple years back I simply mentioned to my doc I was having shortness of breath issues when climbing stairs...

First thing he said was, "we need to look at that" and sent me off to a cardiologist for follow-up and testing...turned out it was my weight and conditioning, or lack thereof....after a push to lose weight and work on  my cardio, a year later, heart doc discharged me as a patient. Left it as if the time comes you do need a cardiologist, I am here.

He has terrible taste in picking GPs.

I had colon cancer in 2009 and had a colon resection. It was only caught because a nurse practitioner at my doctor's office said I needed a colonoscopy since I was over 50.
When my brother came to see me after the surgery he told me his doctor had said, since he didn't have a family history of colon cancer he didn't need one.
