Quote from: pmartin post_id=5417 time=1612190046 user_id=85I am going to take the vaccine when it is available to me.

As to people who are at low risk? They should also take the vaccine. Not because it will save their life, but because an un-vaccinated person is simply a petri dish for the virus to mutate in. Eventually it will mutate to the point that the current crop of vaccines are ineffective and the world get to reset back to square one with this pandemic.

It's not that simple. Even among people that are low risk there are varying conditions of immune system. Some people have strong active immune systems that don't need a vaccine to teach it how to mount a defense against a virus. Other people that may be considered low risk because of age and other conditions may have a weak enough immune system that a virus will take hold and they will get sick, even if it not critical.

My wife and daughter both had positive Covid tests two months ago. We followed the protocol and quarantined as recommended. However inside of our house we didn't take any extra precautions. I slept next to my every night. We sat on the couch and watched movies as a family. We cooked and ate meals together, etc. I took three Covid tests and all came back undetected.

Also, as far as people being petri dishes, Millions of people take the Flu vaccine every year and it mutates. Just because you take the vaccine does not mean the virus doesn't have a chance to live in your system and mutate before your immune system eliminates it. Again, the overall health and immune system condition of a person plays greatly into this. A vaccine doesn't make your immune system stronger, it teaches your immune system what the virus is. Your immune system still needs to do the work to eliminate the virus after it is in your body. This is scientifically proven in large factory farms where animals given regular antibiotics are creating antibiotic resistant viruses. The FDA is calling for eliminating certain antibiotics because of fear of antibiotic resistance. https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/phasing-out-certain-antibiotic-use-farm-animals">https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer- ... rm-animals">https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/phasing-out-certain-antibiotic-use-farm-animals

I believe most people should be getting a vaccine of their own free will.  I cannot ever support the government claiming the authority to force something into a person's body.  Slippery slopes and all that.  Let them have this one, and next thing you know they'll have an RNA cure for your rebellious attitude.  For your own good, you see.

That said, the more people get a vaccine of their own free will, the less excuse they'll have to mandate it.

Quote from: YoDoug post_id=5148 time=1611845882 user_id=58When the Libs go on about climate change, Covid, and health care they leave out the one issue that could have the biggest overall effect on those items; Meat and dairy consumption. If they really cared about those issues they would eliminate subsidies keeping unhealthy foods cheap and actually promote healthy eating...

There are subsidized "foods" that are far more unhealthy than Meat and Dairy. Soy and high fructose corn syrup for starters. Soy is DEFINITELY no good for the boys.

My wife and I were watching TV last night and of course every other ad is for some sort of medication that IS worse than whatever symptom one is feeling, but I digress... we were talking about rampant food and environmental allergies today. When I was a kid, I didn't know a single person that was lactose intolerant, had issues with gluten, allergic to peanuts, or had some sort of "auto-immune" issue. Today... Ho Lee Fuk!!! Seems like 75% of the population is allergic to something, has some sort of "sensitivity" or has an auto-immune issue.

Is it environmental, is it the foods we eat, is it GMO's, is it our lifestyles, all the above, etc...? That's the million dollar question.

We've been eating meat for millennia and it's only been for the last 30-40 years that these health related issues have been massively spiking.

Your post is filled with so many falsehoods I don't know where to start. First, soy does not contain estrogen. It contains phytoestrogen, which actual blocks estrogen reception. Years ago some meat head locked on to the estrogen part of that word and started the false info. Second, for the balance of human life we have been more gatherers than hunters. The fossils and bones of paleo people when analyzed have nutrient levels that support the majority of their diets being from plants.....
TLDR.

Paleo Indians died at 30.
Bacon me.

when I was a kid (12 years old) a friend of mine collapsed during lunch at school
he couldn't breath and was dead 5 minutes later
It turned out he had an undiagnosed peanut allergy and one bite of a candy bar killed him.

I will agree that we are way overmedicating kids these days
It's like we invent a new medical issue to explain away every problem a kid might have

Years ago coconut oil was considered very unhealthy. Now it is all the rage.
Fun fact, coconut oil is the only vegetable saturated fat and has a nearly unlimited shelf life.

I thought coconut was a fruit.
