Quote from: beej on February 07, 2025, 06:23 AMI did read it. And I agreed with it. In all things, moderation.

I think that the Egg board wrote the first paragraph and then the vegan board wrote the second paragraph, but the Almond Milk board edited the article, with help from Weight Watchers. But the beef and pork and poultry boards all made concessions in order to throw the tobacco board under the bus. Because no boards like the tobacco board. ;)

Except there is no Vegan board. There is no broccoli lobby. There is however boards and industry groups for all kinds of meat, eggs, dairy, etc. They spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year to obfuscate the truth about their products. Very much like big tobacco companies used to. They also receive a ton of tax payer money from the USDA and FDA. There are no government "checkoff" programs that give tax payers money to veggie lobby groups to promote eating more veggies.

Below is another industry skewed study. When you eat eggs you get a spike in TMAO in the blood stream. TMAO is a major component in atherosclerotic plaque build up in arteries. In typical studies that evaluate eggs and TMAO they draw blood at roughly 2 hour intervals to see the peak effects of TMAO in the blood after eating eggs. In this study, which has deep ties to the egg industry, They only check blood 12 hours after when most of the TMAO, and subsequent damage, are done.

There is another famous study, quite often cited in articles, that claims adding an egg a day doesn't raise risk of heart disease. When you actually read the study though, they started with a high meat group, high dairy group, and plant based group. The initial findings showed not much LDL increase for the meat and dairy groups but a big spike in the plant based group. Well they couldn't have that so they changed the diet of the plant based group to include a half cup of coconut oil daily. Then the plant based group had similar results. They then claimed adding an egg a day added no extra risk. The truth though is that free cholesterol in the blood has a saturation point. adding more will not increase it. This point is not healthy and drastically increases heart disease risk, but they don't mention that in all the articles praising eating eggs, even though the study authors do so in the study. I have posted links to this study previously.

If you are open to finding the truth you can deep down the rabbit hole of nutrition studies and influence from food groups/producers. If all you looking for is confirmation bias, there is plenty of that to be found as well.

I do. Until there is enough scientific evidence to support the carnies claims to outweigh the decades and decades of science that supports the opposite, I will stand on the side of plant based eating as being the healthiest. Remember during Covid when all of the sudden we were supposed to believe that what had been known for decades about viruses/infection/spreading/masks/etc was all wrong and the new "science" was right. This is how the big egg/meat/dairy groups want you to think about their "science".

Eggs were one of my favorite foods before switching to a plant based diet.

Image below is a graphic depicting artery blockage over time. the unknown issue with "In all things, moderation" is unless you are getting regular scans to track artery blockage, you won't know if eating foods that cause artery blockage in moderation are going to be too much. Eating meat and eggs in moderation for decades for a lot of people is going to lead to stents and bypass surgeries.

LOL, you just have to be right don't you. Your link earlier today didn't actually refute my linked study, only tried to pass blame to other foods. Your link here is a foundation that gave about 1$M to obscure orgs. The big three industries, meat, eggs, and dairy have media/science/study budget in the hundreds of millions annually. The USDA gives them hundreds of millions in checkoff programs. If that's the best info you can find you're actually doing a better job backing up my claims.
