It's funny how that old bit about too far left or too far right brings out the same kind of crazy sometimes.  Opposite the circle from center and it comes around to where you actually agree on certain points.  Bernie 2028!

I remember in 2016 when it started to look like the Obnoxious Outrageous Orange was going to clean the primaries, thinking to myself, "This should only be allowed if Eminem is his running mate for VP."  Turns out they went the other way completely.

I've been trying to kiss Nutboy for years.

Truth is, we (all of us) probably have more in common than we'd admit, but arguing with strangers on the internet is too much fun.

Six million liters doesn't seem like very much.  I'm curious how much was on the "largest ever boat" that drumpf hi-jacked.  Funny thing is, no matter what "we" think about Iran doing this, I will shit myself laughing if this administration has anything to say about it.

edit:  looked it up.  says we got ~1.6m barrels, so a little over 250m liters.

I'm kind of struggling to see the whole story; so Iran has some of the lowest fuel prices for a variety of reasons. Check. People are smuggling Iranian diesel fuel out of Iran and in to neighboring countries and selling it there? I believe there are still sanctions against Iran on the world market, so Iran is policing themselves? :headscratch:

Quick story about oil smuggling.... couple of winters ago when northern europe was gunna freeze because "Putins war" and everyone (including Germany) stopped buying Ruskie energy....so prices rocketed because oil temporarily did for a couple of months, and as soon as it went up it dropped....unlike everyones gas and electricity prices and meanwhile those couple of years later the prices are still sky high.... anyway, Russia sold their energy to China and europe then bought "China oil" and everything was then okay and nobody froze....

@Newbeeee™ , Russia didn't seize their own smuggled energy to China... at least not that I can find any tales of. The entire world knew China was the middleman for Russia's petroleum products.

This story about Iran, as presented, doesn't make any sense to me.

my wife is a criminal court clerk, one of her co-workers had a son addicted to various drugs. He got into some trouble for selling drugs to pay for his habit. He ended up in county jail awaiting sentencing. He was probably going to get something like 5-10 years. The Judge that this guy's mother worked for, made some calls and got this guy a really good deal, if he promised to go through rehab and various other steps to get his life together.

The dealer, thinking that he had flipped on him to get that kind of a deal, killed him with fentanyl. The parents simply thought that he had Overdosed, until a few years later, when a drug bust was made and they found messages on some girl's phone that described what happened. Those messages probably wouldn't have meant much to anyone except that the fact that the judge still had this guy's mother working for him and he carried a lot of personal guilt for the guy's death.

I don't know if it's a weapon of mass destruction, but more people are dying from fentanyl than gun deaths in the US, so if you want guns to be gone, you should want fentanyl to be gone as well.

Just when you think it can't get any worse or people any more stupid.

Medetomidine, a potent veterinary sedative not approved for human use, is a widespread and primary adulterant in the illicit drug supply in Philadelphia, especially fentanyl. Its presence has been linked to severe overdose and life-threatening withdrawal symptoms, prompting several public health alerts from the Philadelphia Department of Public Health and the CDC.

Key Information on Medetomidine in Philadelphia
Prevalence: Medetomidine was first detected in Philadelphia's drug supply in May 2024 and has rapidly increased, appearing in nearly 80-87% of tested "dope" (street opioid) samples, surpassing the previous common adulterant, xylazine.

Potency and Effects: It is estimated to be 100-200 times more potent than xylazine. When mixed with fentanyl, it can cause profound sedation and very low heart rates (bradycardia) and blood pressure (hypotension).

Overdose Response: Medetomidine is not an opioid, so naloxone (NARCAN®) does not reverse its sedative effects, though it should still be administered in suspected opioid-involved overdoses to address the fentanyl component. Patients may remain heavily sedated even after receiving naloxone.

Withdrawal Crisis: The presence of medetomidine has led to a new and severe withdrawal syndrome characterized by high blood pressure, rapid heart rate, intractable vomiting, and agitation. These symptoms often require intensive care unit (ICU) admission and specialized hospital treatment with medications like clinical dexmedetomidine, which is a related compound used in human medicine.

Public Health Response: The Philadelphia Department of Public Health provides resources and alerts regarding the changing drug supply, including information on harm reduction practices and where to find local community services for testing and wound care, which can be found on the Substance Use Philly website. Medetomidine test strips are also available through local community partners.

Your singular anecdote is heart wrenching but i didn't like chemical weapons either yet Iraq war was a bad idea.
