You'll have to forgive us for being cynical about hearing that toolpathing functionality is being gated behind annual payments (maintenance, connect, subscription - a rose by any other name) for the first time in the same update that allows machine definitions to be read only (aka sell-able).

Yes, I am a pessimist, and no it's not getting better as I age. And witnessing new examples of half-empty glasses doesn't help.

Quote from: Zoffen on March 17, 2026, 04:54 PMI pay for the software initially $$$. Then I pay maintenance $$$ for the privilege of using the software features I already payed for.
Seriously though - is there a two-tier pricing scheme here?
With the BS subscription world, a non-user can "rent/hire" (?) a seat for say 12 months for a contract - what's that cost?
Compared to buying a seat....+ paying maint.... to achieve a near-same end result, IF you then stop paying maint?

Yes, I realise in stopping, one "falls behind'.... but unless something big like trochoidal milling arrives, is one really, "falling behind"....

My little brain says if I pay for software, pay for maintenance for updates. I want said software to work as paid for at that point forever.  period! If game is being played her gonna be searching for another long term solution asap.

Man this whole thing seems like it was thought up by some junior VP of revenue hopped up on too much white powder.

"They pay...."

"Then they pay..."

"And then they pay some more..."

"See, it's brilliant. I'M A GENIUS!"

I suspect the ultimate goal for Everpath is to be a replacement for the Unified 5X suite and the elimination
of the royalty checks paid to ModuleWorks

No way in hell they can complete with module works! Isn't the stock model and verify their tech as well?

Sounds harder than Sandvik buying ModuleWorks. Wonder if they've floated that one yet?

ModuleWorks estimated revenue for 2025 was $42 million USD, according to search, so offer them 120 million and then collect royalty cheques from everyone else. It is the Sandvik way.
