My wife went to Target this morning to pick up some basic stuff
She said the store was an wasteland of empty shelves.
Almost nothing she had planned on buying was available
Anyone else seeing this??

Took my Honda in for service. They didn't have the air filter. Not sure if it's a management thing or or the current supply issues, but they were able to source it the next day

The Target by us had an entire empty section of Ramen noodles(like 20 feet long and 10 feet tall), everything else seemed fine, however I didn't pay too much attention last time in either.

Our local IGA and walmart are hit and miss.

You can have 10 Items on your list and leave with 8.

What I have noticed is they are no longer stocking at night.

It's almost normal for several aisles to be blocked and having to dodge pallet jacks.

Mayor Buttplug is already in charge of it. But he is out on Maternity leave since August.

I haven't noticed too many things around here. We did however start making it a habit to grab a pack of TP every time we go to the store. I'd rather have a little extra on hand than run out when the shelves are empty again. We have also started stocking up on canned and shelf stable dry goods. We are buying more beans, lentils, and rice in bulk. I am glad we don't buy meat anymore with the way prices are. I really hope I am wrong, but I am worried that everything Biden/dems are doing to destroy America is going to lead to a depression, not just a recession.

What I don't get is the randomness of it. One week the store is all out of spaghetti sauce. The next week they have it, but no canned green beans. Then it's no yogurt, bottled water, etc, etc...

Possibly the most random shortage I'm aware of is overhead doors. Guy here at work had his break last week. Guy who came to fix it said he should just replace it but it would be 6 months before he could get a replacement. My neighbor built a pole barn earlier this year with two large overhead doors and one smaller one. They had the big ones in stock but he's been waiting months for the small one. It was supposed to come in last week but it's not up yet, so I'm guessing he's still waiting.

Yes.

I struggled to get birthday presents for my grandkids 3 times over the last few months... toy shelves are really bare around my area... for months now.

Liberal/progressive/collectivists sure seem to want to wreck our economy, don't they?

A friend of mine works as a designer for a mid-sized family owned contracting business that builds houses.
He told me what is killing them right now is a shortage of stock sized doors and windows in general.

Everything is on backorder as they are trying to finish ongoing projects before winter.  :wallbash:

He said they are building one house where the owner is spending over $100K on doors and windows alone!
A few items on that particular job are custom ordered from the manufacturer, which takes even longer.

The door and window manufacturers are telling contractors that they are STILL trying to catch up from the COVID shutdown, and that they are all dealing with material and labor shortages just like everyone else.

Believe it or not, even when the price of lumber went through the roof, people were still coming to this contractor to get in line to have their new houses designed and built.  Many were told they wouldn't even be able to break ground until late next year, or further into 2023, but they are still coming despite the shortages and the long wait times.

At the beginning of summer we had a hail storm with baseball size hail mess up our house. The insurance company approved $42k in repairs. New roof, siding, garage doors, front door, etc. So far the only thing that has been done is the roof. The rest is all waiting for delivery. It's been almost 12 weeks since we picked siding/door colors and they still don't know when it will be in stock. We only have about a month before it will get too cold and then we will have to wait until spring to have the house finished.

I guess I got lucky
My 32 year old garage door was about done so I had it replaced this summer.
$950 installed with all new hardware and runners.
It took a week to get because my wife ordered custom windows.

I'm having the windows replaced in our house.  Everything was place on order in July, I have to call them back the 1st week of Nov. to see if the windows came in and get on the schedule for install.
