".

"Every single time I'm handed a gun on the set — every time — they hand me a gun, I look at it, I open it, I show it to the person I'm pointing it too, I show it to the crew," Clooney said. "Every single take." Then, "You hand it back to the armor when you're done."

Those sound like sane and reasonable safety rules.
Apparently on some of these low-budget productions they cut corners on things like safety training for the actors, and this time it was fatal.

The media is reporting that there was already dissention among the film crew before the fatal shooting over things like their accommodations, and people not being paid on time, or not being paid at all.  The whole thing sounds like a low-budget shit show, and a recipe for disaster, which resulted in someone needlessly losing their life.

The armorer will probably take the brunt of the blame, but I don't see any scenario where the production company (or their insurance company) doesn't end up paying a HUGE settlement to the Hutchins family.

I was reading a story at the beginning of this(so some details may be fuzzy) that said a good portion of the crew walked off that morning citing things like safety issues(there had been at least 2 accidental discharges), low/no pay, and having to drive 50+ miles each way to Albuquerque on their own dime to the hotel even though there were hotels nearby in Sante Fe. Said after a long hours of work, driving that far while tired was too dangerous.

Then he pulled the hammer back... same damn thing on a revolver.

What a piece of trash that dude is. I hope that no only does his production company go under, but that he personally goes bankrupt AND does jail time because of this. Not because I don't like him. No because I think he's garbage. Not because he shot somebody, but because he's a lying piece of crap who refuses to own his MAJOR screw up.

I read yesterday that the civil trial is getting started shortly.

Apparently this idiot is going to try to go down swinging instead of settling out of court.

Not only is he a dumbass, but he apparently has dumbass lawyers too.

The burden of proof in a civil trial is a 'preponderance of the evidence', and NOT 'beyond a reasonable doubt'.

He doesn't have a prayer, but yet this arrogant asshole is going to drag the Hutchins family through the heartache of having to re-live the whole nightmare again in court, just so he can try to weasel out of being held responsible.

What a contemptable piece of shit.
I hope the compensatory damages awarded are enough to break him financially to the point where we never have to see his face on tv or a movie screen again.

He's a very kind and generous man. He would have gladly just paid it, if it were tax deductible.

They certainly have not over charged him, legally, I don't think that bodes well for him avoiding a conviction...if he's smart, or at least his lawyer is, they may want to try to find a plea bargain that works.

I would say that ship has sailed but I don't think it ever made it to port.

Yup.
Bout time IMO...

Involuntary manslaughter, criminal negligence, take your pick.
His actions directly caused the death of one person and the serious injury of another, so he should be held accountable.

I'm 99% sure his lawyers are already talking plea deal, because if it goes to trial, his "It wasn't my fault" defense just ain't gonna cut it with a jury.

He is gonna screech to the High Heavens..."It was Her Fault"!!

Shit got loose they were poppin caps on the set with live rounds out back.

The armorer should have left. For that she is Culpable.

He was in charge. and I would guess was fully aware of the off set shootings.

No I was Not there. But it sounds like Fast and Loose on the set.

And yea he was surprised it was a live round. I can go with that.

But.......It's kinda like Yellowstone and they really took someone to the Train Station.

Either way. You Pulled the Trigger. You Pay. ???

I'm still wondering when Alec is gonna be charged for the things he's done on Epsteins Island?  :ball:

Alec, will probably get off with a slap on the wrist after the lawyers are finished.  The Armorer will Def get Jailtime 5+ years.

He should denounce his male straight whiteness and just do the same time that she does, if he really believes the drivel that comes out of his mouth.

I don't really understand why they'd have live ammunition anywhere near a set.

Even a real gun for that matter.
