Here's a question for the group: Who here has had a negative experience with LE for no apparent reason, and still defend people like Chauvin and such, the heavy handed approach?

not sure if that comes across correctly but....

I've been in jail four times. Two times for pot in which I was guilty, one time getting caught up in a drug dealers raid (over 100 people) when we got to my friends house after hitchhiking from Texas for 24 hours and not feeling like walking home, and one time for shoplifting when another Tim Johnson and his friend actually did it. His friend got caught and somehow the other Tim got away. His friend led the cops to where I lived a year and a half before. A local cop picked me up and the State cops took me to jail. I never had any disrespect from any of the cops for the four go to jail times or the many other times I got pulled over for no reason but then I didn't give them a reason to either.

One time we were in a friend's custom hippie van after each of us purchased an ounce of redbud and a keg and we get pulled over by two State police cars. We all four had fired up doobs and when the driver's window went down it had to look like we had a campfire going.  :D The cops said there was a report that a van like "this one" was breaking into houses and "could we search the van" Augie says yes go ahead. They searched the van and we're all freaked out that we were going to jail and lose $40 dollars each for the bags (1977). When the police were done one of them said "it might be a good idea to go out into the country and find an orchard or a field". Augie says "yes sir" and off we went to the countryside near where we lived.

When I was maybe 14, I was walking across the street from the local high school with a few friends. I had my sheathed knife on me and it was visible. I was NOT on school property. We were not even talking to anyone but ourselves. The school police rolled up on us like we just robbed a bank, guns drawn and everything. One of the cops came up on me, gun to my head close enough for me to hear it cock (was a 38 special).

That a bad enough of an experience?

Here's a funny one; was with a friend of mine and we were at the city park drinking beer... I was probably 12, my friend was 13 maybe 14). Sheriff rolls up on us and asks what we're doing. I knew it was a rhetorical question and just shrugged my shoulders. My friend says drinking beer. So the cops were going to be cool about it and just have us dump it... he said "get rid of it". I start to dump mine, my friend starts downing his. <laughter>

Yeah... that didn't end well for him. He got roughed up a little and hooked up. Me... I went on my way. <laughter>

It pays to NOT be an ass.

SOME in here I KNOW are full blown assholes and probably deserve nearly every negative encounter. :coffee:

Do you believe that was a justified use of force?

I was arrested for Disorderly conduct when I was 18.  I didn't have the sense to keep my mouth shut.

I didn't believe so at the time, but then again, I did not know all the details involved. So my opinion would be uninformed at best. I only know my side of things. I don't know if somebody phoned in a threat to the school that day, I don't know if there was a gang fight earlier. Too many things I just don't know. I had a knife, I could have had a gun too, in the early to mid-80's a gun would have been a stretch, but not out of the realm of possibility. Gang bangers were still using knives, bats and chains for the most part then.

When there is an incident, we are only shown what is going to make the police look the absolute worst because there is a narrative you leftists want told. We however don't see the WHOLE situation, yet we pontificate about it as if we know anything at all based on a few seconds or minutes of edited footage.

QuoteTips for how to not get your ass beat by the police;
[list=]
  • Obey the law
    Use common sense
    Don't run. If they have to chase you, they are bringing an ass kicking with 'em.
    If you're listening to loud rap music, turn that shit off.
    Be polite
    Stay in your car with your hands on the steering wheel unless instructed to do otherwise, or unless you want your ass kicked.
    Be careful who you let in your car.
    If you let your friends in the car and you get pulled over, tell them shut the fuck up!
    If your woman is mad at you, leave her at home.

    If you follow these simple pointers, you probably won't get your ass kicked by the police.  - Chris Rock

    Just because it's comedy and funny as hell, doesn't mean is incorrect.

    That's the go-to response.  "I shot the kid because he could have had a gun!" or "I was aiming at him and my finger twitched!"  Sorry, doesn't fly.

    Did you pull the knife and run at the cop?  If not, you weren't a threat.

    You know the four rules of gun safety.  If you point a loaded and cocked gun at someone it better be that you're intending to shoot them, and if you intend to shoot them it better be to defend against impending death or severe bodily harm.  Nothing else is acceptable.

    I should add that since this is America, "He had a gun!" is not an excuse to initiate violence.  In most cases, having a gun is legal and not a source of threat.  By supporting the narrative that anyone with a gun deserves to have their life put at risk by cops you're helping the leftist anti-gun agenda.

    You think it was acceptable that you came within a 1/8" trigger pull of sharing your brain with the sidewalk, without ever being a threat, and you're calling me an idiot?

    Wow.

    I've never had a negative experience for no apparent reason. I also am friends with a number of officers.
    Still wouldn't defend Chauvin. But by the same token, I don't believe he is what killed Floyd.

    I was pretty wild in my youth. I'd guess I've had 50 to 60 confrontations with police in my life, mostly driving infractions though there were a few more serious confrontations.
    Overall I can think of only one time where I felt I was treated unfairly, but I always made a point to be courteous, respectful and keep my hands in plane sight when dealing with police.
