Hypothetical situation...

I defraud the lottery by a fake win. With my "winnings" I buy a house. Put it in my 8 year old daughter's name. Fast forward 10 years, the fraud is discovered. I go to jail. My now 18 year old "daughter's house" is seized because it was obtained illegally. But it's the only house she remembers living in.

In no way shape or form does she get to keep "her" house... even though the complete situation is no-fault of her own.
