We just got shiny new FOD Awareness and FOD Critical signs all over the shop. My idea was to put one in the break room that read FOOD Awareness area, didn't go over well.

Quote from: Newbeeee™ on February 12, 2026, 06:37 AMWhy are the makers having the issue - is it shared engine across different platforms or?

From what I can tell it is mostly on the Turbo charged engines....I know with the diesels the EGR (putting engine waste back into the engine) was an issue as well.

Back in the day where I did my apprenticeship, the assy area nearly all smoked and certainly eat while working.
Luckily most of the instruments were secondary airspeed and altimeters....although some were primary.... :sofa:

We were considering looking around for a Toyota Highlander to replace my aging Lexus ES350 but after reading about the new stuff having so many problems I think I'll just ride that old ES350 for as long as it can go.

On a different note, this is kinda funny. @ghuns I'll bet a man of your ingenuity and skill level could convert your Audi into one of these and it would be totally badass! :)

What year is yours? I run a 2013, about 185k miles now, and I love it.

My wife is asking for a bigger vehicle as our son is getting bigger, and the dog is about 85 lbs. She foresees us needing more room, but I love my ES so damn much. Looking at GX's cause I think it feels like the ES of SUVs.

Sorry, but hey, snowboarding sucks. ;)

I retired from skiing 16 years ago after bilateral hip replacement surgery, which was like a new lease on life. Jump forward to last Christmas. My Older daughter and fam were here for the holidays and noting that I had lost so much weight exclusively by buying and renovating a home, no dieting, no going to the gym, 30 pounds in a year. Anyway they invited me to go skiing with them and I said yes. I was immensely pleased to note that I could still ski. I did 6 runs (blue and green runs) no more bumps for me, but it was great!

FOD, The company that I worked for used to do a lot of work for Prat and Whitney Canada, where they make jet engines. We did a lot of small parts for them until about 10 years ago. Imagine my surprise when the entire staff and crew were sent to the break room to get a dressing down by a Pratt representative for FOD. A slide was shown of a part sealed in a plastic bag with a dead fly in it. Of course everyone laughed except the owners and the Pratt guy.

My ES350 is a 2008. 210K miles on it. It still drives pretty nice but the new car smell is definitely gone!  :hrhr:

My wife drives a 2012 Toyota Rav4 with around 125K miles on it. It's a pretty decent little car but we need something a little bigger to hold the 3 grand kids as they get older.

It makes sense financially to get rid of the ES350 and keep the newer Toyota.

Too bad, the possibilities would be great. :)

KTM was always my fav bike, other than the suspension - Jap bikes were waaaay better in that dept.

Sucks they farmed out some of their engines.
It's getting hard to justify 12.5k usd for a dirt bike

In 2002 I bought a 200 enduro. Not as good handling as my previous TM, but still a great lil bike but needed a flywheel weight for the slow stuff.
I looped it at 10mph fooking about in the middle of Salisbury Plain and bust my leg ripping my knee ligaments - still gives me agg!
