Quote from: YoDoug on Today at 12:54 PMThe funniest thing about this measles hype from the left is that six years ago they wanted to jail people for going to get a haircut during covid but now they don't care if our borders are open for people with all kinds of diseases.
You know how you accuse James of not understanding your point and 'swerving' - you've just done it.
Never mind the 'jail for haircut' distraction.  The only connection between borders and measles is US travelers (unvaccinated) returning from places with prevalent measles.

Trying to blame measles in the US on 'illegals' is just regurgitating some Fox Lies talking point.
The answer, and how the US gained 'eliminated' status, is maintaining a 95% vaccination rate for herd immunity to be effective.

Trying to pin this on the left wanting open borders is just ignorant as well.  There was a bipartisan immigration bill in the Senate in Feb.2024 that was tanked under pressure from the orange idiot, because he need to rile up his base on this issue for election purposes.  (This ranks in stupidity with him tanking USMCA saying what a terrible deal it was - when it was his f-ing deal!)

Specifically to your attempt to pin a strawman opinion on me wanting open borders, that is incorrect.  There needs to be border security.  My only complaint has been that during this administration, ICE has been rather thuggish.  And executive orders removing asylum status and other pending legal immigration processes has been another publicity stunt to rile up his base, and has proven again and again in the courts to have not been legal orders from the orange god.

Quote from: ghuns on Today at 12:11 PMIf the mf'ers weren't coming across the border, it wouldn't matter that our vaccine rates dropped. :secret:

The only way for that to work is to close our borders tightly and completely. No one coming in. At all.

Including any of us coming back.
But we'd still have to get back to 95% immunization in order to achieve 'eliminated' status again now that we've f'ed it up.

I'm still laughing!!!

Kinda hard to have "Herd Immunity" when you inject 23 million unvaxxed illegals into the pool.

But I digress , must have been those traveling Amish!!!  >:(

And every court who fought Trump has lost on Appeal.  ::)

Not sure where you get 23M.  Generally agreed upon number is ~15M, total.  This is a little less than 5% of the US population, so if we were all vaccinated and they were all not, we'd still have the needed 95%.
More importantly, most of those have been here for years - they have been part of the population longer than the recent uptick in measles outbreaks, and not the source of importation.
And many of the countries of origin have near the vaccination rate of the US, on down to about 80% - Venezuela being the exception at 60-70%.
So even if we use the 23M that puts that population closer to 7% of US total and average them at 70% vaccinated (which is likely lower than reality), less than 2% of the US population is unvaccinated undocumented immigrants.

What we're missing is about 25M 'Muricans behaving like 'Muricants and f-ing it up for everybody.
But hey, I guess that's no surprise.  It only took about 10k to put a shiner on Jan.06

Incog, people are entitled to their stupidity.

Unfortunately in this case, when a significant portion of the population practice said stupidity, people die.
