I bought shares of Kraft Heinz (I liked the story as they were getting their balance sheet stronger with a series of good moves, wise sales, etc.). Had it on my radar for a while (pays a great dividend yield). It was at $90+ a share. Dropped down to low 20's in about a year's time. I waited patiently. I don't touch stocks trending lower until I'm satisfied a real reversal is taking shape. When it began moving higher from low 20's, I began accumulating shares starting at the high 20's and into the low 30's. Now around $40 a share and paying me a kickass dividend every 3 months.

That worked out well. It doesn't always, though.

Thanks for the link...

I've been focused on weekly charts and using a 52 week simple moving average. Simple and effective.

That's stocks. I'm not sure about crypos. A totally different asset class. Not sure of the reliability of moving averages on them. Heck, they're not the end-all on stocks, either. Just a gauge to help us guess better...maybe. lol

Dan is it just me or are stocks no longer valued by earnings?

Good question. Some stocks go up in price while never reporting a profit. It eventually catches up to them.

Some stocks report robust earnings and it goes down on the news. "forward guidance" often the culprit.

I say mostly it's just you.   (earnings are the main long term driver in a stock)

There are exceptions. A smaller pharma company awaiting FDA approval on a drug can be a huge mover up or down depending on how the trials pan out. Markets more concerned on that potentially hot new drug than the current earnings. Think "estimated forward earnings".

Sales as important or more than earnings (profits). If a company reports negative earnings (again) but their sales are getting stronger, it can rally.

I think longer-term, fundamentals eventually decide the fate of a stock. Strong earnings but a huge debt load? It can get complicated. The best we can do is observe price action. It's the only information that really counts.

I had 581 at 0.0086/share back in January.......that was about $5.  If I would have kept it, it would be $320 today.

I threw $50 at it a week ago, and have pretty much decided to just leave it at this point.  Thought about selling it a bit ago at 100% gain, but screw it, let it ride!

Yep, DOGE is surging again.
I wish I put more money in back then, but it is what it is.
Right now I am sitting at a little more than 10x my original investment.

My sister and her husband dumped about $8K into DOGE and Syscoin a while back, so they are really sitting pretty today.
