Quote from: TylerBeer on May 01, 2026, 12:04 PMGas was already expensive in blue states. He added $1 a gallon with this dumb war. What's hard for you to understand about that?

You get what I am saying though? If I lived in CA I every time I had to fill up I would be pissed knowing all that extra money CA was charging me for gas while they are ripe with hundreds of billions of dollars of .gov fraud every year. Yes, I don't like or necessarily agree with Trump on the Iran situation, but that is a smaller, shorter term increase in gas prices compared to how CA operates as a state.

Toothless Drumpf Sycophants.  There's your TDS.

I'll happily pay a buck more a gallon to not live in the mind-waste middle of this country.

LOL, that is near Alec Baldwin levels of TDS ranting there.

Fuck Trump's gas prices. Fuck Biden's and Obama's too.
They are equally shit.

It's fun watching people from different perspectives argue about it. It's as useful as arguing who's shit stinks more.

I am impressed you are already in high school.  You certainly haven't graduated from thinking the junior high taunt is actual humor.

James might be out there a bit, but even when he is incorrect he is generally adding to the conversation.  Incog's just throwing s#!t at the walls.  And he's not even an illicit tobacco smuggler.

Remember when saying that someone has TDS was clever and original?

Neither does anyone else.

That's actually funny.
I'll have to share that with a friend who introduced me to the phrase "sitting on my own shoulders".

I typically buy cars in $5k-$15k range and pay cash. Usually around 100k miles. Always AWD or 4WD for MN winters. I drive them until they die or are close to it. I do just about all of my own repair work. I'm not afraid to tear into and engine or pull a trans. All of these thing make sit hard for me to consider an EV. There are some older model S out there that could fit the price range and mileage, but usually only 2wd and you can't do many repairs yourself.

I'm not against EV's but I don't think they fit for everyone. My wife drives from MN to TN at least twice a year. 1000 mile trip. The idea of having to stop 4 times for an hour to charge is not realistic when you can stop for 10 minutes at a gas station. That makes it a difference of a 15 hour drive you can do in one day versus 18 hours with extra charge time.

Two things killed the EV/Hybrid car movement. First, The Toyota Prius. The first major car that was a hybrid was the gayest looking, lightweight, car you could possibly make. they instantly lost the PR. Ford now makes a decent Hybrid option for the F150, gets like 30% better MPG and has higher towing capacity than the 5.0. However nobody will buy it because of the stigma the Prius created. In full disclosure, I owned a Prius. Bought it used with 200k miles, my kids drove it to 300k. I rebuilt the battery twice plus brakes and tires, otherwise very reliable. My daughter at the time had a 35 mile drive each way to school so she loved the MPG. Second, Biden's massive, ram it down your throat approach, trying to force EV's. There is a large percentage of the population that no matter how good you make and EV, because of that they will never buy one. IMO, it is not hard to understand how the middle thinks in this country, but as long as both parties and their media are led by the extremes, you can't actually make a decent common sense appeal to the middle for EV/Hybrid cars.

We own a Highlander Hybrid with 270k miles and it's been fantastic, but we need to replace it within the year and aren't even considering an EV. Another hybrid is definitely on the table though.

Like Doug, I pay cash for my cars and don't mind doing my own maintenance. My preference for RWD manual vehicles means there aren't a lot of choices anymore.
