What's the top dog out there now?
Also, what Graphics card? (not the $10,000 nvidia) :ice:
I run 3 monitors (currently 23's) looking to upgrade those also.

I assume as much high speed RAM as you can stuff in it....

Lay it on me..... :unworthy:

Yes as much Ram as possible and the fastest that your motherboard will allow, this cannot be stressed enough. And obviously because some people don't realize this.. you have to go into the BIOS to set the clock speed to match the RAM because it will run at stock speeds by default. XMP profile is what it's called on my motherboard (MSI).

Also I've always been against those BOXX computers unless money is no object because they price gouge like no other, it's stupid.
Of course building your own is always the best way to go IMO, that way you know exactly what parts are inside.
As for monitors if you're running 3, I have some 27" 1080p BenQ monitors (Model GL2760H) that I've had for 5 years and they were very reasonably priced. The newer version of this monitor is $190.00

If you go with a higher resolution know that Mastercam doesn't typically play well with 2k and 4k... the icons don't scale the last I heard.

As for which CPU, i'm pretty sure you still want the fastest single core clock speed for Mastercam to get the best results. The benchmark file has proven that the Xeons are a waste of money and slower than a fast clock speed.
GPU? I'm still rocking the P4000 Quadro and haven't kept up to speed on the new RTX "quadro" cards.

At my day job IT will not build computers... period.
2 attempts at having local shops build machines failed... poor performance, over heating, DOA a month
after the warranty expired etc etc
IT refused to buy them from  XI cause "the website was too confusing"
We bought a couple of SolidBox machines, but they are just marked up Dell workstations.
Boxx machines are expensive, but they are overclocked, liquid cooled machines with a rock solid warranty.
In our case we have had 100% uptime over an 8 year period with 10+ machines.
$45/hour programmers sitting around with dead computers burn up a $1000 saving in purchase price in a hurry.

and in my case, money was no object
end of the year ... $30K worth of 1099's = a $15K tax bill
spend it or give it to the Feds ... that's a no brainer.
However, thanks to the idiots who run this state, 1099's are now illegal
so this is not longer a problem

How dumb are they?

I have built dozens on that site. I don't know that much, just pic the fastest everything.

I always manage to screw up something, wrong MoBo for processor, wrong case for MoBo, etc. They always catch it, correct it, and have even offered suggestions that provide more performance and cost LESS money.

I get it. And your company has a lot higher of a budget than a lot of others. For instance a small job shop like ours.
And it sounds like your IT guys are either morons or lazy if they can't figure out a website.

Still though, even if I had Jeff Bezos money I wouldn't buy from them just on principle.
Maybe I'm just a computer nerd but I love building computers. Especially with other people's money!

I do to, but my skillset is 10 years out of date.
It took me a full day to get the power cables right when I upgraded my video card to
the RTX 4000. I spent a day worried sick that I'd blown up my new machine.
Thankfully, modern day power supplies are nearly idiot proof
and
I'm paid to program, not screw around with computers.

I may have to try these guys out for my next laptop.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

For us, it's easy...we can buy anything we need, so long as it's a Dell
