that should get the conspiracy theorists fired up..

the line between accident and premeditated murder in this case is very fine.
it would only take a second to replace a blank cartridge with a live round
once the inexperienced armorer had cleared the weapon and declared it "cold"

I read that Baldwin and the crew received the required training then promptly ignored
everything they had been taught.

Is there really that much to being an armorer that she was worried? Put freedom seeds into the clicky-bangy thing when needed. Take freedom seeds out of clicky-bangy thing when not needed. Same thing for the fake freedom seeds. Biggest issue would be knowing the difference between real and fake freedom seeds.

There are articles out there stating the film crew was using the pistol in question for unauthorized plinking
careless film crew + unqualified armorer + ignorant gun hating prima donna actor = 1 dead movie producer

And one more thought courtesy of Matt as we are speaking of him.

If the Cops surrounded the set and Alec Baldwin came running out Screaming with his weapon "It's a Cold Gun"!! "It's a Cold Gun"!!!

How Many Bullet holes would Alec have???

If it's your finger on "the Boogerhook"

What would we be saying if he put the gun to his own head??? Doombass!!

If My Mother said it was clear.....I would check it.

Bingo
How on earth does outsourcing the responsibility for safety to a third party sit right with anyone?  Anyone hands me a gun, I check it.  Doesn't matterr if I saw them clear it, I still check it.  As a minimum, it takes only a minute to show a noob how to check and clear a specific firearm safely, and a few extra seconds to say:"Any doubts, treat it as loaded & deadly, and ASK!"

As mentioned, this is the same in a stack of situations that aren't gun related.  Imagine being a machinist coming on shift.  There is a checklist on the table showing that prior shift have signed off on tools, datums, fixture tightening, etc, etc, etc on the first op of a new job.  All signed off by Shift foreman, QC manager, God himself if needed.  Then a sticky note saying: " All good to go, just press the green button".  NFW I'm going near green until I've checked at least a few things myself.  "They told me it was ready!" isn't going to cut it when the boss is ordering a new spindle and a fresh unobtanium forging.

I feel for Alec though, on a personal level.  Regardless of the circumstances, being responsible for a death in any sort of incident is going to be tough on him.  I'll leave the pile ons, justified or not, to the less sympathetic.

Cheers
Bruce

Oh I agree on that, no doubt. But his twitter history proves that he likes to open his mouth just like that fat fuck Michael Moore.

From the article:
QuoteSafety protocols standard in the industry, including gun inspections, were not strictly followed on the "Rust" set near Santa Fe, the sources said.

^^^^This tells us just about everything we need to know.^^^^

Not sure how it actually happened, but it sounded like Baldwin may have been rehearing the scene as the Cinematographer and Director were lining up their camera angles.

Why he would point the gun directly at anyone as he rehearsed, prop gun or not, empty or with blanks in it, remains to be seen.
My guess would be just plain carelessness by someone who has little to no experience handling real firearms with live rounds in them.

Sounds like an Assistant Director is probably going to take the blame for introducing a firearm with live rounds onto the set, but since the investigation is ongoing, we don't really know.

Yeah, Alec Baldwin is an arrogant liberal asshat...always has been.
But on a human level I wouldn't want anyone to have to live with this kind of thing on their conscience.

I believe the scene called for him to point the gun at the camera.

I'm sorry, but EVERY firearm, toy, movie prop, WHATEVER..... IS loaded AND at Condition 0 until otherwise proven. End of story.

At BARE minimum, he should be looking at negligent discharge of a firearm, discharge of a firearm within city limits, and voluntary manslaughter.

Anyone know if he's got any Domestic Violence charges in the past? If so, he's a prohibited person... that's another charge that should be put on him. He absolutely has a history of violence.

He absolutely, positively, without question deserves EVERYTHING that he gets coming to him. This was a 100% preventable death.
