our local power company won't allow any more solar installs, they're getting too much energy back into their substations.  In other words, they aren't making enough money selling power because they have to buy too much.

The pricks are on the outside of the porcupine.......

They compared a Tesla model 3 to a mid size sedan that gets 30+ mpg. A dual motor Tesla model 3 is faster and can outperform most American sports cars. I don't really think that is an apples-to-apples comparison as the author claims.

That may be true ("the article is full of holes") , however, there IS enough truth in it that everyone should take some pause to REALLY consider the viability of EV's for their particular situation. Consideratins that go far beyond the "range anxiety". The fact of the matter is that our power grid, in it's currently constituted form CANNOT support all the EVs projected to roll off the lines in the next 5 to 10 years. EV planning goes FAR beyond charging stations... which the sycophants are ignoring.

Just saw that Hertz Rental just ordered 100,000 Tesla model 3 for their rental car fleet. $4.2b dollar deal.

Hertz sucks. Rented from them about 10x. Had problems all but once. Overcharges, rude staff, full blown incompetence, etc...

I will take public transportation before I rent from Hertz. I've rented hundreds upon hundreds of vehicles over the years. I've had more problems with Hertz than ALL other rental experiences combined.

I would be 5 digits richer if I was smart enough to load up this morning, let alone a week ago. My stupidity amazes sometimes. :popo:

don't feel bad... about 20 years ago I bought 1000 share of Apple for $7... then sold them for $11
thinking I was a bad ass day trader  :wallbash:

Apple has spit four or five times since then... they would be worth north of $750K today

Are they getting subsidies for these EV purchases?
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

They just got out of bankruptcy. I wouldn't be surprised if their deal with the feds included some kind of subsidies or debt relief for switching a large portion of their fleet to electric.

Elon tweeted the are paying full price, like everyone else. Comes out to $42k per.
What Congress does about a (not needed) EV subsidy is up in the air, but it seems they will do something.

Oh, that hurtz. Financial channel youtuber i watch has the same story on Apple.
Another guy I subscribe to gained ~$600k on TSLA yesterday with only plans on buying for the next 10 years.

The manufacturing advancements the TSLA are doing are nothing short of revolutionary. Elon warned the industry they aim to beat everyone through manufacturing as they all catch up on batteries and autonomy.
they have about a 30% profit margin on each car but have yet to implement their 4680 cells or fully implement the monolithic aluminum castings. The reduction in QC concerns and robot spot welders is incredible.
We will see an unheard of profit margin per vehicle on what has long been regarded as a shitty low margin business, especially when people are paying $30k(?) extra for the autonomy software.
