U.K P.M. Boris Johnson tweets "situation very grim"

U.K. intelligence suggests Russia could invade Ukraine "without further warning".

Stock market cratering as selling pressure accelerates.

Quote from: Surface on February 17, 2022, 12:34 PMThe threats of sanctions against Russia are somewhat puzzling. If you know more, I'd value your enlightenment.

The energy sector comprises about 60% of Russia's GDP and about 36% of its revenue, so it would seem the obvious place to really hurt the Russian economy, yet the world, especially Europe, depends on their energy exports, so any sanctions there would be equally or even more painful effects for Europe.

Additionally, energy producers are often global companies, so while hitting Gazprom, a State owned Russian Energy producer, may make sense, what would happen to energy companies which trade on the NYSE, yet have operations in Russia?

Russia supplies Europe with over half of their natural gas. Russia holds a serious ace up their sleeve.

QuoteRussia may launch an attack on Ukraine on Saturday, February 19, 2022. The attack would likely begin with an air and missile campaign targeting much of Ukraine to decapitate the government and degrade the Ukrainian military as well as the ability of Ukrainian citizens to prepare to resist a subsequent Russian invasion. US and allied governments have been warning of such an attack for some days, pointing to the size of the Russian forces concentrated on Ukraine's borders.[1] Western officials have additionally said that Russian troops have moved to jumping-off positions for an invasion over the past 24 hours. The following additional conditions and indicators point to February 19 as an optimal date for a Russian attack:

Tomorrow is the day???

Russian military exercise in Belarus will continue. Now looking like a "de facto" occupation of Belarus.

Prelude to war? (Looks like it)

Opinion piece

Russia sweeps through Ukraine in 72 hours. Could detonate EMP bomb. Has technologically advanced nukes (clean nukes, i.e., no radioactive fallout)

Just an opinion piece. Can't really happen. Right?

Putin doesn't need nukes to roll over Ukraine
Ukraine had nukes when it was part of the USSR and gave them up
in exchange for leaving the USSR.. that was a bad move.

I'm watching for a Tag Team on This. Russia /China

Ukraine and Taiwan.

Both have escalated. And Last week Putin was Shaking Xi's Hand.

Not only would it be too strong for The U.S. to single handedly Respond.

But with The Nipshits we have in Office right now.

We might not even be able to Protect Ourselves.

The European Union would likely Falter.

I was just gonna post that, Incog. Another link. Meh, I'll do it anyway...

Russian officers given invasion orders?

Dan_AKA_ROY23

I'd give Ukraine about the same chance as Tony Montana (not gonna end well)

Wonder how the stock market reacts? (not that important considering the bigger picture)
